Question about Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console

2 Answers

The PS3 completes a successful wireless Internet test, but when I try to go on the Internet it gives me an error message DNS error 80710102. It also times out, and cannot get an IP address. My PC gives me an error message: "IP address in conflict with another system". I am using a wireless router D-Link DIR-615. My LAN (2 PCs) is currently using wired cables. What do I need to do?

Hi, to fix it follow these steps carefully. First go to your computer and go to RUN then type in CMD then type in ipconfig/all and click enter to bring up your ip adress and such. write down all your information like ip adress/subnet mask/gateway/dhcp server/dns servers. Then go to your ps3 and go to network settings and disable media server idk why but helps. Next go to internet connection and click wired connection. Manually type in the ip adress and subnet mask and dns ect., this should take a while. Next select do no use proxy server and select everything else in automatic. The upnp set to do not use. Click yes and a connection test will begin, IT WILL FAIL. Next Turn off ps3 and restart modem. Turn Ps3 and Modem back on and go to network setting click wired connection and then easy. It will do a connection test and it will work. You are now back online ready to play. if not restart ps3 only.

When you go into your internet settings on the PS3 instead of automatically assigning an IP address, select manual and change the ;ast number of the IP address by 1, what you can sometimes find is that several devices can share one IP address and conflit like it is saying. Changing the number by 1 should solve this problem.

Hope this helps

The other thing you can try is to change the DNS server addresses. Again when you are entering internet settings, on the DNS setting choose manual and enter the following address for primary and secondary DNS address :-

    208.67.222.222

    and/or

    208.67.220.220

Hopefully this will sort the problem for you.

Tried connecting my ps3 with the wi fi . It obtains ip address successful but fails to connect to the internet . It says dns error 80710102.

Go to the PS3 Network Setup, choose "Manual".
Leave the option for DHCP under "automatic", and under DNS servers, manually add:

208.67.222.222 or/and
208.67.220.220

These are the IP addresses for the Open DNS project and now your PS3 will be able to resolve internet addresses.

The 80710102 problem is caused by a DNS error, which basically means that your PS3 is trying to navigate the Internet without knowing where it needs to go.

Hi, i had the same problem but it was fixed by simply re directing my ISP's DNS settings away from Sony's. manually change your DNS settings to the ones below and it should work fine !
