Question about Dishwashers

1 Answer

The dishwasher we currently own has been in the home for 12 years. We have only been in the home for one year. When we place dishes in the dishwasher that are almost free and clear of any food most of the dishes still have a film on them and the water glasses get food stuck to them and have a murky film on them. The food particles usually look like bread crumbs. We have been taking great care not to overlaod the dishwasher and keep dishes away from the water releasing areas. We are trying to clean the traps out if there are any on hopes that this will help, however, we cannot seem to get to any traps. Thank you for your help.

GE PDW9700 - The dishes do not get cleaned

Same as above problem: I have had this dishwasher for less than 4 years and the dishes as of about 2 years ago stopped getting cleaned. I use the recommended dish liquid and rinse and lightly clean the dishes before I put them in.
What a piece of junk!! gs

My 12 year old daughter accidentially put dish liquid in my dishwasher instead of dishwasher detergent. What do I do?

Can't see this doing too much harm in the long term.

Biggest problem is likely to be that it will froth a bit.

Suggest you run the machine empty on a "rinse and hold" cycle a couple of times. Stand by with a cloth and bucket, so that if the machine does froth up, you can mop up anything that seeps out before it makes a mess on the floor (watch the waste water outlet at the back as well as the front door.

Question: How on earth did you get your 12 year old daughter to put anything in the dishwasher in the first place - it's all I can do to stop mine leaving dirty crockery in her bed!

Kitchen aid dishwasher doesn't clean dishes in the top rack

Sounds like you have 1 of 2 problems. Either your pump is clogged or you need a bigger drain loop.

Maytag Quiet Series 300 Not drying dishes at all

Hi brookeroy

I'm Harvey the Master Plumber.

Your question is your Maytag is less than a year old in a new home. Your folks have a dishwasher either the same or similar and it dries the dishes and doesn't leave water on them. Our dishwasher leaves water on it like the dishwashers from when I was a kid. Lots of water and spots and have to basically prewash all my dishes. It there something I can do or should I try to find all the paperwork?

First try 'jetdry'. Then call for warranty repair. Your d/w should still be under warranty.

Rusty dish rack

Clearly a design or manufacturing flaw. I have the same model and the rack is disintegrating after 6 years. I believe it is a manufacturing flaw. Our previous dishwasher rack lasted over 20 years in the same conditions. Same construction, vinyl covered steel. New upper and lower racks cost over 200.00 and there is no guarantee that this won't happen every six years. I recommend a new non-Maytag dishwasher as soon as you can. Meanwhile, limp along with the defective racks.
