This really is a common fault with most pc's ,a few years ago it was this and theold ps2 mouse sockets that would fail.
If you can take it apart very carefully and gently find the fault broken connection wires/solderd points .You could repair it yourself.
almost as common as this problem is the jack plug on your headphones they fail more times than mr singh and the a-level examiners daughter,to coin a corrupt phrase!
