Question about Zareba Electric Fence 600 - 7,000 Volt Eight-Light Voltage Tester #RSVT8

Open Question

I have solar electric fence charger that is not working. Solar panel output is okay (10 V), and fence charger output works when hooked up to a new battery or working directly from the solar panel with the battery disconnected. Voltage into 6V battery (trickle charge) seems low at 2.5 V. Do I just need to replace my battery or is the trickle charger shot?

My solar panel is not working in my birdbath fountain. When I did a troubleshoot it said to test the unit with the fence unhooked. What is the fence?

Check the pump to see if there is a blockage stopping the impeller from moving. If you have a volt meter, measure the output of the solar cell in bright daylight to see if it is producing the correct voltage.

    1. A solar powered electric fence energizer usually contains a battery for energy storage. The solar panel collects the energy from the sun and charges the battery. Lead acid batteries, which are used in solar fence chargers, typically last around 3 years, or around 1,000 days of charging.

I have see this happen before and its usually do to most moisture/rain getting in. ie use multi meter to varify solar charger putting out current/voltage. Odds are its not anymore. Rechargable batteries are notorius for not lasting but not in 2 months.

HOT LEAD FROM SOLAR PANEL HAS A ELECTRICAL COMPONENT WHICH IS BROKE. WHAT IS IT? (6-V)

Either a voltage limiter (because a solar panel can put out upto 21 volts.... BUT more likely a diode - which prevents the storage batteries from discharging through the solar panels (power goes only INTO the batteries when the diode is working.
Radio Shack will be able to match it if you remove it and take it to them.
