Question about Samsung YP-K5 MP3 Player

1 Answer

Computer will not recognize YP-K5 player, player will charge and play ok but I cannot get the computer to recognize any USB port. The USB ports work fine with my other devices. YP-K5 was disabled in hardware so I enabled it again, reloaded the software and drivers, but it still will not recognize, although the program boots when I connect the player to the USB port, but no portable device shows on the program. I am unable to manage the player of refresh/format it. I hit the reset but this did nothing to help.

How do I charge Samsung MP3 player Yp-U3 Samsung YP-U3 MP3 USB port not connected to the computer

The player needs to be charged via the USB connnection on your PC. If it doesnt fit, try the USB ports on the back. If its not working/not charging, please test the MP3 player on another PC.

MP3 can't work normally

With the YP-u3 connected to the USB port and internet connected, start Samsung Media Studio software, you should get notification of a firmware update to download which fixed the recognition problem for me

Samsung YP-U3 MP3 Player Problem connection

Found the solution on another site (http://www.everythingusb.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=11238). To quote user AFHavemann :

"* Plug in the player so the USB bus can see it.

* Once it’s recognized (i.e., the device screen reads "Charging" and "USB Disconnected"), go to the Control Panel and click "System"

* Choose "Hardware" then "Device Manager" tab.

* Look for the name of your device under “Portable Devices” in the list

* If the name of your player is under “MTP Device” then the correct drivers are probably loaded

* Right-click on the name of your device and click "Properties"

* Click “Update Driver”"

Then follow the prompts from there. The computer searches for the driver software, etc., and reinstalls/resets information related to the device, which fixed things such that the computer will now recognize the device. I'm not sure what causes the problem, but this solution seems to reset whatever's gone wrong.

Either the device is bad, the pc port is bad, or the software is faulty. Try connecting to different usb port, then a usb port on a different pc with a compatible os. If still not recognized, then there is physical damage to player.

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware.

What you probably need is a firmware update. Many people seem to have this problem and it is fixed when you update the firmware from 1.03 (the one that comes with it) to 1.05 Here's the link to the firmware update: http://www.samsung.com/tw/support/productsupport/download/FileView.aspx?cttfileid=1536296&type=&typecode=200600&subtype=&subtypecode=200601&cmssubtypecode=&model=YP-K5QB&filetype=FM&language=
