Amana front load dryer model NGD7200TW wont heat

Amana? Huh, I thought they only made Frigerators!? OK, You have to locate the Four heat sensors on your dryer and run a voltage meter through them. You put the meter on just the volume icon so that when you touch the two leads it makes Contact and emits a sound. That means it is a good circut. You have to test each one of these sensors to see which one is bad.

Better use from your high end dryer

This is something that the companies don't tell you, but if you have purchased a high end dryer in the past 10 years, you are not supposed to use dryer sheets in them. The dryer sheet with emit some sort of resin that will stick to the heating element causing it to overheat thus your dryer will not get hot anymore. I found out the hard way and had to get my heating element replaced. A great alternative is wool dryer balls and they are all natural and do not contain any harsh chemicals.,

The dryer does not emit any heat.

check your fuse box and make sure you don't have a blown fuse, check the breakers and trip back and forth to be sure it's not partially tripped. Verify power at dryer outlet with a multi-meter, L1 and L2.

The drum fails to start spinning, a humming sound is emitted. there is black residue around the idler pulley, but the belt seems o.k.

There might be a problem to the starting capacitor of your drier. Check the capacitor if it is working or not.

Dryer is not heating up.

90% of electric dryers emitting cold air need a new heating element installed. If you've checked the thermal fuse, and verified the unit has around 220 volts of power, then the only thing left is the heating element. Typically costs around $40-$60. Can be done by you if you have basic electrical knowledge, otherwise call an electrician.

Dryer is working but do not emit heat so clothes do not dry

The problem is that the heating element has failed. This is an easy repair and if you are handy you can get all the information you need from the sears web site to assist you in changing the heating element. Product manuals are available for most in-stock items.
Order a product manual by calling 1-800-366-PART (1-800-366-7278). Or download a free product manual at
The repair part is also available from sears parts deptartment ( and will be about $50 guessing.
Best wishes!
