Question about Heating & Cooling

Open Question

I have 2 Hunter State Street 27763 fans with light fixtures that has 4 - 40W light bulbs. I wanted to change the light bulbs from incadescent 40W to "energy efficient" light bulbs 13W. One of the fan does not seem to accept the "energy efficient" light bulbs. I have tried many wattage from 10W to 23W mixed or all the same and I either get blinking, humming and when using CFL bulbs that fixture is causing interference to a radio (for example) in another room when the light is turned on. Why is that happening and how can I rectify this. I would like to use the more efficient light bulbs since the fixture is used for many hours per day. The fan was installed by a qualified electrician so I expect he must have known how to install it.

DON"T USE TILL YOU FIX- the connections inside fixture are getting hot and expanding- OPEN SHORT_FIRE HAZARD- that is why going out after an hour and then works after a few minutes of cooling- take down and check you connections

SOURCE: I have a Hunter ceiling

Bill, Hunter makes many different light kits that will fit just about all of their fans. You can find them at home centers like Lowe's and Home Depot. Also, I believe that Harbor Breeze Light Kits are interchangeable with the Hunter Light kits. You'll find those there, too.

Hope this helped you. Please let me know. Thanks.

Looking for light fixture for hunter ceiling fan model # 25434

I can't find that fan anywhere in my old catalogs. If you have a center plug in the switchcup, you can put almost any light kit on it. If you have two screws on bottom switchcup, you need a hunter light kit.

Hi Does the light fixture have a globe under the fan? What does the light fixture look like? Most of the light fixtures have small screw surrounding the globe that simply unscrew and the globe drops down. All fans are different and I will have to know what this one looks like. In the mean time I will look at some hunter fans on line and see what I find.

We purchased a hunter grand visita and when we turn the light on a the breaker box or the switch plate there is a delayed reaction before the light comes on whats going on?

Here is what hunter technical support says about this.

"The light fixtures are manufactured with a limiter that prevents a higher than recommended wattage bulb from working. The limiter causes the slight delay even when the correct bulbs are is in use."

Sounds like the remote receiver units (located where the mains connect to the fans) took a surge and have failed.
