Question about Frigidaire Dishwashers

The door of the dishwasher is leaking. It seems that the door maybe broken as when you it is open it does not stop until it is past the 90 degree angle. The model# is FDB520RHS0.

Would I just tighten up the hinges?

  • davidlhought Sep 06, 2010

Ok, it does not seem to be the hinges. The only issue I see is that the springs have been overstretched so that when the bottom drawer is pulled out full it drops it to an angle greater than 90 degrees.

On the leak, I pulled off the cover of the door and the base of the dishwasher actually extends past the door and there is a lip there that makes it look like it is expected that water would get through except what is happening is that the water is getting shot out from under there with enough pressure that is going up over the lip and leaking onto the floor.

I would check the hinges, and check the door gasket.

You can tighten the screws. If the holes are stripped out, you may have to go with a bigger size. If the hinge ends up to be broken, then it should be replaced. Try partselect . com

You can try and put an waterproof high pressure adhesive on the seal. Or replace it all together. For the hinges, looks like new spring are in order. You can get them along with diagrams and more at partselect . com or daysappliance.

I have the same problem. The springs look intact. Maybe some stepped on the door when it was opened and it stretched the springs. I'm going to replace them and see what happens

I have an ASKO D3250 and it has recently started making a loud noise from the pump area. It starts as soon as the cycle begins and doesn't stop even if you open the door. It seems to stop about 90 seconds...

All power and sounds should stop when any dishwasher door is opened.
Your door switch may be stuck causing it to continue.
The 90 second sound at the beginning of the cycle is the water pump extracting any residual water before taking on clean water for the wash cycle.
Any excessive noise from the drain pump could be debris in the pump. e.g. broken glass.
You can remove the pump and check it for blockage or any foreign object.

the water with sop might still in the pump that is way you still see sop, but the leak might come from the seal of the door or the spray arm :
Check your spray arm that nothing got stuck in its holes. make sure the spray arm is turning all the time when using the machine :
put the spray arm in 90 degree position, turn the unit on , open the door after few min check that the spray arm move...
make sure your seal of the door is clean and nothing prevent it to close evenly the door...

After reading a few of the other Haier models troubles, I pulled the unit out and tip it at 45 degrees backwards for around minute. Water pored from the back of the unit, once cleaned water up reinstalled unit and all seems to be back in working order.

it sounds like you need to adjust the door latch so that the top of the door will close tighter. when in the rinse cycle try pushing door at top to see if leak stops. if that doesn't let you know something then you got me. you have changed all that i can think of. Good luck

Check continuity of the heating element to see if it is broken/open.
The dishwasher prefers that the incoming water (water heater) be 120 degrees (F)

Dishwasher running with door open

most dishwashers will stick on pump if there is water in he base of the dishwasher . If you tilt the washer back only about 45 degs and water runs out of the back at the bottom the you have a leak but it could come from any where. But when there is no water in the base then your washer should start to work again until it fills back up
