Question about Vacuums

Open Question

My Prosine 2.0 display panel displays Panel Fault: Memory error and the display error as well as all LEDs are off. The unit looks as if it has no power to it. I reset (power off.power on) the Prosine and all LEDs on the display (except for the back lit display) turn on for about 3 seconds then all go off again. I am able to use 120v RV Resort power and all 120v equip works. The Coach batteries do not charge and were low. I charged the Coach batteries with an external charger. The charge works yet I get the same results with the panel. Can you help?

SOURCE: roomba 4108 does not charge

Firstly the fastest killer of a battery, any battery, is over-charging. Charge per manufacturers instructions and then don't leave your item on the charger after it's charged. This goes for any device such as cel phones etc.

Second, clean the battery contacts. Our second hand Roomba was so dirty when we got it that the battery wasn't even making contact. Remove the brushes, clean them, clean off all the hair etc and use alcohol to wipe clean the two contact points under the brushes as well. It should take a charge after that.

SOURCE: i can't get the charging light to turn on.

I have the same problem, after our building had a electricity problem. The electricity spiked when the utility company came to fix a problem. Several adapters in our apartment seem to be affected. Like my Kone, my dirt devil detailer had the same problem: charging light didn't come on, and while it charges, it only gets up to weak power. I got a new charger/adapter and when I plugged it into the base, the charging light was working again.

SOURCE: My iRobot scooba won't turn on after a full charge

Do you have the charger terminal, or do you have the charger that you have to take out the battery and charge. Because I have found that my base terminal charger works better than the battery charger that needs the battery to be removed to charge. If you have the terminal charger and the power light is green when it is in the charger I would start from the terminal

SOURCE: roomba 4210 replaced aps battery still does not work

Try cleaning the silver contacts on the battery as well as the charging station with a small amount of rubbing alcohol such as an alcohol pad.
Also check to make sure the dirt reserve is completely empty. Also check that the briushes are clear and can move freely.
This 'not charging' is a very common problem with the Roomba and the manufacturers continue to sell rechargable batteries that are no good even though they are aware of the problem.

Generic works fine, and that charger does too. If your charge light and dock light are on then you'll be okay.

Why doesn't on/off switch work?

Hi Heather, it's Jack at Dyson.

When you have your machine fully charged and easily to hand, please give the Dyson Customer Helpline a call to speak with our experts. We'll be able to talk you through some simple diagnostic checks to confirm if there's a problem with the charger, battery or main body. I have an Energizer Model CHDC7 battery charger for AA/AAA batteries. I'm not sure how to use it. Specifically, when batteries are inserted and plugged in, it displays flashing green lights over all...

Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH) batteries are usually charged in pairs in consumer chargers. The CHDC7 can charge two or four batteries at a time. Their position in the charger is important (see the link at the end of this note). Each battery has a separate pair of green LEDs. There are no other LEDs on this charger. The LEDs light up to show the state of charge. Flashing means it is charging. Solid means it has reached that level of charge (ie, 1 LED = half charged, 2 LEDs = fully charged). The batteries will get warm but not uncomfortably so. After some practice you will be able to tell if they are getting too hot (which may signal a worn-out battery which should then be replaced). Like all rechargeable batteries, NiMH batteries have a finite life (measured in number of times they've been discharged and recharged). IMHO, they should also be used and charged in matched pairs. I mark them when I take them out of the box and keep them paired in use and in charging for maximum life. Yes, the devices that use 3 batteries are a pain to deal with. LOL. All details can be found on this Energiser data sheet:

P.S. The CHDC7 remains open for charging. Closing it for storage is optional but minimizes the space it takes up.

I was wondering if there is a way to change the light bulb for the display numbers etc..?

yes there is. the bulb used in most display are LED's.
you can purchase the same size LED's as your unit.
you can also even change its light color. Now leds comes in many color from white, blue, lavander, red, green etc... Also it comes into many sizes.

You need some soldering experience to change the LEDs.

Hope I answered your question and don't forget to rate me.
Thank you for using FixYa!

We have an electrolux ultraone and today when we tried to turn it on it turned on for 2 secs and turned off - the "auto" button is still flashing though - any tips to fix this would be great!

just fixed one at work today for a bloke I work with it had the flashing AUTO light & turns off after a couple of seconds. Keep in mind I've never fixed a vacuum cleaner before but i am an electronics technician so it wasn't too hard. I'll list how I did it best I can from memory.
What caused his to do this was where the hose connects to the unit there is 3 wires you can see this from the three prongs where it connects. Take off the hatch on the hose with a size 8 Torx driver. once Off you will see three loops of metal and the part that separates will have three contacts with wires leading to the prongs. What happened to his was the middle loop came off and the wire under it had broken free and I suspect shorted to another contact.
I soldered the wire back to the ring and shaped it back together holding it with solder.
Take the cleaner apart I think you need a 20 or 25 Torx driver to do this.
Its tricky and can't remember exactly how to do it without the unit in front of me.
What your looking for is a circuit board on the side of the unit. theres two of them you want the bottom one the top one is for power regulation. theres also the one at the top with the LEDs etc don't worry about that.
On this board inspect the FUSE its a 250V 3.1A and its soldered in, I replaced it with a 3A since it was all I had.
Test it and remember to attach the nozzle back before powering it on. From what I can tell those three metal loops are antennas for the controls on the handle.

The one I fixed was a Z88701p I think Australian model.

Roomba 530 Nine beep error. I took off the front bumper and cleaned it throughly. Looks like itmay have to do with poor infrared emitters as they dim over time with getting older.

Nine beeps mean optical sensor unit/bumper actuator failure. Here's a link for you. Hope it helps....
