I had the video display go out on start-up and the em. off light/buzzer smoked. The display board still has 48v and the three slot board it plugs in to (supplied by ribbon cables) has an indicator light on it that isn't illuminated. I'm not sure if it was ever illuminated or if it should be. I need to get the display up to move forward. Which direction should I go? I already tried to hook up an RS232 connection but had no luck there either. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Test outlet power by switching the unit to manual bypass and breakers off. If power is supplied OK and the filter board repaired OK then restart the unit starting with the breakers supply to unit, battery confirm the display is on and static bypass led also on then switch back the bypass knob to normal and press the on button to switch the unit to normal. Give the batteries time to charge 12hours then you can test the unit on backup mode.
Hi Tammy, this can only be done if the load is not critical.... If load is critical then shut it down first.
On bypass you will be getting one beep every min or so Try pressing the inverter on button, there should be a single beep, and then if all is well the inverter will come back on line. All leds will then be green.
Suggest once working that it be checked to see if it will still support load during outage.
If this does not work then please post again.
In the manual there is pages of fault diagnostics which may assist, if you don't have the manual it can be downloaded from the Emerson website.
Try and push and hold the on button for about 3 sec. This will start a manual battery test. If only three of the five battery led illuminate allow the ups to recharge the batteries for 24 hours. Battery light flashing means internal battery source not available. Check battery connection, completely power down and reboot UPS
Try to find your manual here in this site. Choose your Product Category, Product Application, Application Type and Specific Product. After that you can download the manual. Hope this helps. "http://www.liebert.com/servicesupport_pages/ProductDocumentSelector.asp"
surprised it tried to start with amissing neutral, this is used to reference one side of the incoming live for the control circuits Emerson do not release diagrams, and I doubt if anybody has the correct diagram as the unit is so old. ups is really difficult to repair, even with diagrams. I used to fix AP200 series units and I had the service manuals, they were still very difficult.
looks like your ups is toast, could be expensive but, maybe you can find a repair tech who can get parts form other units.
