Question about Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

I have a Panasonic SC-PT560EB-K. all speakers work on the test tone but the 2 smal "surround" speakers appear to just make an interference noise, theres no actual audio from the tv/ps3 coming through them. any ideas?

Sony STR-DE475 - no surround sound

Thanks for all the info. It appears that the Receiver requires service as there is no test tone also. However, please clean the speaker cables and speaker jacks and reconnect. Also, try the steps mentioned in the link below.

Not all the speakers are working despite ensuring the cables are

There is a button that says -Mix 2CH - make sure it does not say Mix 2CH ON, or you will only get 2 channels when watching DVDs. This Panasonic, as well as legions of other home theater systems, are more limited than they seem. The SC-HT500 can give you surround when watching DVD's on the unit, but you will not be able to get full surround for your TV, because the Panasonic does not have the right digital inputs.

Rear speakers not working

Some TV is not broadcast in surround... you will not get back speakers from TV, only from DVD.

Add 2 speakers outside on a 6 speaker surround sound and hear all

You won`t get surround sound mix with 2 speakers, you can have a 2nd zone but this will only play a "Stereo Sound" if you have that playback option with the SC-RT50, what you will need is a speaker selector switch or better known as an A & B switch, this will ideally run from the front left and right speaker output of the receiver into the A & B switch then run into each pair of speakers inside or outside, what is common nowdays are receiver that are known as 2nd zone connections where you can have 2 sets of speaker in different rooms, unfortunatly the SC-PT50 does not have this option.

No sound from rear speakers during test tone usng Sony STR-DE475

I had this problem last night.

To solve it, you can reset the amp by:

1) Put the receiver on stand-by
2) Hold down "MODE" button and press on button
3) "S.F. CLR" appears in the display and surround is back on.

Good luck

Set up the Panasonic SC-PT450 and followed all the various instructions. Am using the surround sound in conjunction with a Panasonic TV bought at same time (50" plasma) but can't seem to get sound out...

Are you sure you're using a source material that is surround sound? Most TV broadcasts are still only stereo.

Also with surround programmes, the rear speakers are only used for the surround effect so will only make sound when the sound source is supposed to be behind you.

Possible broken speaker

You must determine if subwoofer amp or speaker are bad.Take the good surround speaker and move it to the bad side.If the good speaker does not produce audio the the amplifer is bad.If you use the good speaker in either surround output and it works then your speaker is bad.If you take the small speaker apart the panasonic part number is stamped on the magnet.Locate a service center that will order it for you.
