Canon Powershot A75 digital camera

Suddenly my photos are pale and streaky - even in the viewer of the camera - same when I transfer to computer.

When I turn on the camera the screen shows a streaky photo and it takes the picture that way and downloads the same. Is there a fix for this or am I looking for a new camera. I have changed batteries, tried different batteries with no luck. This is what it looks like when you take a pic.

Camera suddenly sees everything as gray and streaky. When you take a picture regardless of setting (including video) it is the same. What you see is what you get on review too. Happened very suddenly and there was no apparent cause. Camera was set down while in protective case and treated no differently that normal.

Definitely sounds like you have a bad CCD. There is good news for you though. Canon recognized this particular model's CCD as faulty, and it is under recall! This means they will repair or replace your camera free of charge.

From Canon website: "U.S. residents are kindly directed to contact the Canon Customer Support Center for further assistance at 1-800-828-4040. Support hours are Monday thru Friday - 8:00 AM to 12:00 midnight; and Saturday 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM (all times EST). Alternatively, if electronic support is preferred, please send your email to carecenter@cits.canon.com"

Explain to them you have a Canon PowerShot A75 digital camera with a bad CCD and you were looking to get it serviced by them under the recall.

Good luck from darntoothysam.com

This sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager, and is a known defect for your particular model camera.. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free if you live in the US, Canada, and a select few other countries. If you live outside the US, contact Canon support for your country to see if they'll still honor the advisory (some still will, especially if you stress you knowledge that this is a known defect of the camera). They may also include free shipping both ways (free shipping varies with countries). This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please see this link for more info.

Affected cameras with this problem include: A60, A70, A75, A80, A85, A95, A300, A310, S1 IS, S60, S400, S410, S500, SD100, SD110, IXUS V2/V3/300/400/430/500/II/IIs, IXY Digital 200a/300a/320/400/450/500/30/30a

Canon A70 Powershot Camera. Not been used for a while, but image is streaky, pale and blurred

The image sensor has failed. This is a very common problem with all old digital cameras. Yours is about seven years old now and the camera was built for a five year minimum service life, so it's certainly not a premature failure.

Repairs will cost far more than your camera is worth.

My computer, now with WIndows 7 does not recognize my camera , Canon PowerShot A75 or any photos on the memory card

You can try the following:
- install the software provided with the camera
- search on the web for new or updated versions of the software
- check the camera connection settings. The computer has to see it as a flash memory, and not peer to peer (PTP) transfer.
- Try downloading with a card reader. In general this is the better way, as you don't have to worry about camera battery levels
