Oven pilot went out

Most ovens no longer use a pilot system, rather most have electronic ignitors. Often the ignitor will become coated and weak this will eventually cause the stove to fail to light. Some of the symptoms include a "poofing" noise prior to complete failure and some intermittne heating failure prior to complete failure. If this sounds like your oven you will need a new ignitor you should be able to get a generic for unit at any parts supplier or even sears usually they come with instructions.

Turn on gas oven; it lights, big poof/pop comes; then continues to light and heat properly. How do I stop it from popping? The pop is scary!! GE Spectra Gas Stove/Oven

Hello,

The reason it "POOFS" is because the igniter is slightly weak and some gas enters before it gets lit, this will continue and get worse. To resolve it the igniter would need to be replaced and then as soon as the gas enters it would light it right away without collecting before it lit.

Was microwaving a hotdog on a paper plate covered by another paper plate and the microwave just kind of went poof and now nothing lites up (display) and it wont work. I checked the breaker it is on and...

Yes there is.

Unplug the MW.
Uninstall from wall mount (if installed that way.).
Remove outer cover by removing the screws at back and (possibly) bottom sides.

Locate fuse. Replace only with an equivalent type and amperage.

You can test the MW without reinstalling or putting the outer covering back on.

Oven makes a poof noise when turning it on.

HI thanks for your question. the poof you hear is the gas sorta igniting because of a failing bake igniter. i would replace it thanks if you need help don't hesitate. thanks.

Oven turns on and off intermittently

I think your problem either lies in the thermostat or the gas valve. If you have one (Meter) take a reading at the coil side of the gas valve while starting and see if the signal drops out. If it does your thermostat is faulty. If it does'nt the coil on your gas valve is weak and dropping out as it heats up I have seen this quite frequently. You will have to read the schematic on your panel to see if it is registered in voltage dc or M/V.
