The unit will not produce cold air. It only pushes out room temp air. Altough I am not an expert, I think it is the compressor, or the tempature control unit (thermostat?) The unit does seem to make an attempt to switch to the compressor mode but the unit wont turn on.

Sounds like it could be low on freon I believe these units have about 1.5 pounds of freon in them and are critical in not undercharging or overcharging them if it is a freon 410 ac unit the pressures should be about 135 and both lines cold if is low on freon a service tec will need to be called to try to repair the leak if possiable

Are there any filters? If they are clogged the unit will not work properly and the temp will not drop as much as it should as it cannot absorb the air in the trailer or room.

It's 30c outside, we're trying to get cool and the aircon is blowing out air that isn't much cooler. I have the remote set on 21c with an icicle showing, but the conditioner is saying 29. I don't know...

In some models, setting temp flashes for 5 seconds, while setting. And then what it shows is room temp.
To get proper cool, keep the tips as follows:
1. Check air filter is cleaned. 2. Check indoor coil & out door coil are cleaned. 3. Checkindoor blower motor is working. 4. Keep in cool mode. 5.Check compressor is working with correctpressure. keep your arm on suction line (bigger pipe) in out door unit. If you feel chillness, pressure in compressor is o.k. otherwise, leak or short of gas. Call repairman to rectify.

I can not change the thermostat setting on the unit. Whenever I try to change it, it reverts back to the previous setting.

The thermostat will display the current tempature in the room. When you press the buttons to change the tempature and you see it change back it is probably going back to the room tempature display but still keeping the temp you set it at. Also make sure the "hold" feature is set or the temp you choose can change at different times during the day due to the programmable features built into the thermostat.

Air conditioner in 2000 town and country van is producing hot air...not just outside air temp, but hotter air than outside. freon is o.k., compressor is working, but switches on dashboard seem to not...

Sure the AC is working? If so, the suction line to the compressor should be nice and cold to the touch and sweating. If that checks out, and the fan is working, then the issue has to be with the device/switch that directs the cold air from the evaporator to your dash vents. That could be a PIA because it might just be inside the dashboard.

Samsung window unit air conditioner model # AW2402M freezes up one time, and the next time freezes you out of the room. What is wrong with it, Termistat or compressor?

Try to set the thermostat to higher temperature and monitor if the compressor will turn " off " when the room temp. is cool, and turn " on " when the room temp. is high. If does not work then your thermostat is defective. Continue running of compressor with very cold room temp. can build up ice in the unit. The compressora73b784.jpg should shutdown when setting temp. will attain.

Low temp conditions

75k ohms resistor is lower than 0 degrees F in equivalent temperature may be compressor cannot operate because the maximum setting of thermostat. is from 17 to 18deg. C. You can use 11 to 12k ohms the temp. for this is about 23 to 24 deg. C. The resistor resistance is fixed so the compressor continue running without cut out. The only problem for this is the compressor, because the design of the compressor is for high temp. Continue running of compressor can produce icing in suction and evaporator coil and cause damage of compressor due to liquid slugging.
