LG LFX28978 Refrigerator, freezer not cold enough, maintaing temp at 40-41 degrees.

How did you remove ice from freezer. If you uses any type of tool (Scraper etc) then you have possibly punctured the evaporator tubes. These tubes can be either as a radiator type or form part of the freezer box and are very thin therefore susceptible to puncturing when using scrapers or such to remove ice.
To remove ice from refrigerator condensers allow it to melt, you can use a hair dryer to speed this up but DO NOT use mechanical means.

Where is the ice maker fan for LG French Door Refrigerator?

Hello,

The ice maker fan is located in the freezer and is part of the Grille Assembly ( LG part Name) Which is the removable back panel in the freezer. If you have an error code on the display such as ER/IF the fan is not rotating due to failure or ice accumulation in the fan blade. If you have no error code and the ice maker is not producing ice 2 things to check are...1. On the bottom of the ice maker there is a Test Button. Press and hold the button and the ice maker should rotate, Dump ice cubes and refill with water. If the ice maker does not cycle replace the ice maker. 2. Check freezer temperature. Freezer Temperature must be below 15 degrees to make ice. Ideally freezer temp should be 0 Degrees. If you have warm temps in the freezer there may be a sealed system issue preventing proper cooling.

Hope this helps.

ICE FORMS IN FREEZER BOTTOM,

Keep the bottom of your freezer free from ice. ... The water from the melted ice and frost drains through a short tube and into a pan beneath the refrigerator, where it evaporates. Should the drain line become clogged, the water has nowhere to go and it freezes, forming a layer of ice in the bottom of your freezer.

Freezer stays cold. Why is fridge part warm?

if freezer gets iced up the fan designed to pass cold air from the freezer to the fridge stops working. The freezer is meant to go into a defrost mode when its trtansducer senses too much ice. If the transducer goes fault the ice builds up. Some fridges use a timer to work this out so it could be a timer fault. Talk to a service man about how much ice the freezer should have for them to sucessfully diagnose the fault. Too much ice may prevent the service man from working out if temperature sensor is working and no ice can prevent him from testing sensor. To get rid of ice you have to trun off the power to the fridge and let it melt.

Electrolux american fridge freezer cooling problem

There is a defrost timer on the unit. It is supposed to come on and melt the ice that forms on the coils in the evaporator. IF you get a lot of ice built up or something is wrong with the timer, it wont melt the ice or it wont come back on to cool the unit.

Freezer is not defrosting

1. Remove all of the food from inside the freezer and place it into the ice chest. Use more than one ice chest, if necessary. Cover the food with ice from a 10 lb. bag of ice. Alternatively, place all of the food from your freezer into the refrigerator compartment, packed tightly together.
2. Place one or two 10 lb. bags of ice into one or two large bowls inside the refrigerator compartment to keep the food chilled. Keep the door to the refrigerator tightly closed and avoid opening it during the freezer defrosting process.
3. Unplug the unit and leave the freezer door open.
4. Let the freezer defrost overnight or for at least eight hours.
5. Use the towels to wipe up the melted ice.
6. Plug in a hair dryer and direct it to the interior of the freezer to melt any remaining ice from the walls and door. Be sure to direct it into the vents of the freezer, too.
7. Wipe up any water from ice melted with the hair dryer from inside and around the freezer.
8. Plug the freezer back into the outlet, and return food still solidly frozen to the freezer compartment from the ice chest or refrigerator. Use any thawed foods within a day or two or discard.

Water is leaking from top part of freezer down to bottom of inside of the frig. Frost is on the top of the frig in the frigerator.

FIRST STEP: UNPLUG THE REFRIGERATOR. AFTER IT'S UNPLUGGED, DO THE FOLLOWING:

Remove the food from the freezer compartment and place inside the refrigerator temporarily.

Remove the bottom panel and back panel from inside the freezer compartment. You will probably notice that the bottom of the inside of the freezer is covered in ice. Use hot water (not boiling) from the tap and pour it on to the ice that is formed on the inside of the freezer compartment to melt the ice.

CAUTION: DO NOT USE A HEAT GUN TO MELT THE ICE AS IT WILL MELT THE INSIDE OF THE FREEZER COMPARTMENT. ALSO DO NOT CHOP AT THE ICE WITH A SHARP INSTRUMENT OF ANY KIND AS THIS WILL PUNCTURE AND DESTROY THE INSIDE OF THE FREEZER.

If you have a wet vac, you can remove the melted water using the wet vac. Or you can use a towel to mop up the excess water. You will still have to pour hot water onto the ice until all of the ice in the freezer is melted. Patience is key as it takes time to defrost all of this ice.

You will see a drain hole in the back of the freezer compartment that is still clogged with ice. You will need to continue to apply hot water until the ice has completely melted.

Note: When the ice in the drain breaks free, you will see all of the water disappear as it empties out.
In Whirlpool refrigerators, the water runs to a tray underneath the refrigerator. You will hear the water empty out into that tray. Then you will know that you have completely cleared the ice from the drain pipe in the freezer. To double-check this, take a small cup of warm water and dump it into the drain hole and you will see it visibly disappear and run into that tray underneath the refrigerator.

Replace the freezer panels back into the freezer compartment and plug it back in and return your freezer items back in to the freezer and you should be all set.
