What way are you trying to turn it? Always turn toward you never away from you. Did you pick a stitch pattern? Did you read your manual and watch the dvd? If all else fails call Singer at 1-800-4singer

I cant get the needle to catch the bobbin thread. I just received the machine, i might not be doing it write? any suggestions

This has to be done by hand.
Raise the presser foot, then thread all the way down to the needle. Put in the full bobbin with thread end loose and visible. Hold the end of the thread in the needle with one hand and carefully turn the wheel so that the needle lowers and lifts the bobbin thread. Place both threads behind the presser foot. Now you can sew.

I have a singer simple 3116 sewing machine and it stitches loose upper threads. I?ve tried adjusting the tension, re threading, flipping the bobbin around, and even different fabric. But nothing seems to...

Insert a new needle, (flat side facing rear of machine), now totally rethread. Try this, with presser foot up, pull top thread, it should pull smoothly, now lower presser foot, the thread should barely move. This should seat the thread in the tension discs. If that doesn't work, call Singer at 1-800-4singer.

Hi! I have a singer simple 3116 sewing machine

It is the top threading that is giving you the problem not the bobbin thread. Try this, totally rethread, the machine. A new needle will not hurt either. Now with the presser foot up, pull on the top thread, it should feed smoothly, now lower the presser foot, pull the thread again, it should barely move. This usually will seat the thread in the tension discs.
Good luck and Merry Christmas

The thread hangs up inside the bobbin holder

A jammed machine is caused by thread being caught in the hook. Remove the upper thread and the bobbin case, turn the hand wheel towards you (counterclockwise) by hand and remove any thread in the bobbin case area. *Always turn the hand wheel towards you. Turning the hand wheel away from you (clockwise) can cause the machines timing to become unaligned and jam your machine. Also, always make sure the presser foot is in the down position before you start sewing. Sewing with the presser foot in the up position will jam your machine in the bobbin case.

Thread jams in bobbin case

Open the bobbin area and make sure it is clean.

Change to a new needle.

Thread the machine with the presser foot up.

Make sure the bobbin thread is feeding in the correct direction from the bobbin spool and through the guide on the bobbin case.

Take hold of the end of the top thread and lower, then raise the needle to pull the bobbin thread up.

Take hold of both thead ends and pull them under the presser foot and to the back of the machine.

Place fabric under the presser foot. Lower and hand walk the first couple of stitches.

When sewing, and you need to stop to adjust the fabric, make sure the needle is down into the fabric. This will keep the stitch from malformation and causing a possible tangle.

If you need a manual, you can download one free at the Brother website.

The bobbin thread is sewing loose stitches and jamming the machine. I have re-threaded everything, brushed out the bobbin casing, changed needles, adjusted thread and bobbin tension, and am stuck and...

Always have the presser foot up when you thead any sewing machine.

Make sure the flat side of the needle shaft is facing to the back of the machine.

Don't do anything to the bobbin tension. Set the top thread tension to what is recommended by the mfg.

Make sure the thread from the bobbin is feeding from the bobbin in the correct direction and through the correct guides.

After inserting the bobbin and threading the machine, lower the needle (hold on to the thread tail) and then raise it by turning the hand wheel by hand to pull up the bobbin thread.

Gently pull the two threads under the presser foot and to the back of the sewing machine before you begin to sew.

It sounds to me like the upper thread is not threading properly. Make sure the presser foot is in the up position when threading. After you thread it, try putting the presser foot in the down position and pulling on the thread going through the needle. YOu should have some resistance. If not, you definitely have a threading problem. Check to make sure there isn't any thread broken off in the thread path or wound up in the tension disc.

Hold the tail of the needle thread loosely.
Turn the hand wheel toward you (counter clockwise) and lowerthe needle into the hole in the plate.
Turn the hand wheel until the needle rises back up to it's highest position.
Gen
You will see a loop of thread wrapped around the upper thread.
Open the loop and find the free end of the bobbin thread.
Voila!
Now you can sew.

Your problem is a simple one.Jamming is due to thread getting trapped on the bobbin holder. All you need to do is to unscrew two screws holding the the bobbin holder clean the same and reasseble it.your problem will be solved.N.Govindarajan
