What kind of disk batteries does the pulse meter use on the schwinn model dx900.

The computer on your Schwinn DX900 exercise bike uses one 1.5V AAA battery. In order to replace the battery, you'll need to:

1. unscrew the computer from the mount
2. gently disconnect the computer sensor wire from its socket
3. unscrew the back panel of the computer (four screws)
4. remove the old battery and install the new
5. repeat steps 1-3 in reverse order.

Illustrated instructions can be viewed in the PDF manual here: http://download.dfxi.com/supportdocs/OM/Schwinn/SCH_DX900_OM_web.pdf

Good luck.

Where do you put the transmission fluid?

There should be a dipstick, but some modenr transmissions are sealed and have no dipstick, and have a drain bolt instead.
LEVEL CHECK Inaccurate fluid level readings may result if the fluid is checked immediately after the vehicle has been operated under any or all of the following conditions:
  • In high ambient temperatures above 90°F (32°C).
  • At sustained high speeds.
  • In heavy city traffic during hot weather.
  • As a towing vehicle.
  • In commercial service (taxi or police use).
  • If the vehicle has been operated under these conditions, shut the engine OFF and allow the vehicle to cool for 30 minutes.
NOTE: The transaxle in your vehicle requires special procedures for checking and adding automatic transmission fluid. Fig. 1: Location of the fluid level screw and the fill/vent cap needed to check the fluid for the 4T40E automatic transaxle 87951085.gif
Fig. 2: The transaxle vent is also the transaxle fill cap 93201p22.jpg
Fig. 3: The vent cap is obstructed by the intake duct on the 3.1L engine. You will probably need to the remove the air intake duct 93201p30.jpg
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  3. Place a container under the fluid level screw. Fig. 4: The fluid level screw (see arrow) is located above the transaxle pan on the passenger side of the vehicle 93201p42.jpg

  4. Remove the fluid level screw.
  5. Ensure the oil level is at the bottom of the level screw. NOTE: Because the transaxle operates correctly over a range of fluid levels, the fluid may or may not drain out of the screw hole after removing the screw. If the fluid drains through the screw hole the transaxle may have been overfilled. When the fluid stops draining the fluid level is correct, and you may install the level screw. If the fluid does not drain through the screw hole, the transaxle may have been low. Add fluid at the vent cap location in 1 pint ( 1?2 liter) increments until the oil level is at the bottom of the oil level hole. Use a long necked funnel to avoid spillage.
  6. Install the oil level screw and tighten to 124 inch lbs. (14 Nm).
  7. Lower the vehicle.
  8. Connect the negative battery cable.

I removed my lens and now when i fix it back, the shutter gets stuck in the mirror up position. when i remove the lens again, the mirror swings back without any problem.

Sorry, but if you have no access to other lenses then there isn't any definite way to isolate where the fault is. New batteries aren't the answer as on your model they only power the light meter.

It's very likely to be a lens fault, especially if using either of the two lenses which Cosina usually supplied (the OM2000 is actually a rebadged Cosina with an OM mount and OM viewfinder surround) but that's just a best guess based upon experience. The Cosina lenses have an OM mount and badging, but they are very cheaply made and tend to fall apart. The tiny lens stop screw is a common loss to almost all OM lens models and it prevents the lens from being turned too far when mounting it onto the body. Without the screw, the lens only has to be a tiny bit over-rotated to cause faults similar to yours.

If you hold the lens and look at the mounting with the top of the lens pointing up at the 12 o'clock position, then the screw in question should be just clockwise of the bottom bayonet lug at about the 6:30 position. It's about 1.2mm in diameter and stands proud about 0.8mm. If there's a hole there then the screw has fallen out. Replacing the screw is awkward as the Cosina lenses use screws which are not interchangeable with "real" OM mount lenses, but it only acts as a peg so it's often possible to replace it by epoxy gluing in a short peg of bronze or steel. Temporarily glue the peg before final fixing though as it may need trimming to get it just right. The Cosina lenses also tend to shed screws internally causing either the aperture coupling lever or the stop down lever to be out of their correct positions.

Good luck, and please take a moment to rate my reply.

I have an olympus om-2 s program camera. There is a " cover cap" over the film advance lever that is missing. It looks like a cover cap might have just been glued on at the factory. Do you know where I can...

These are no longer available new. You'll only find one if you buy a non-functional OM2SP for spares. Not many OM2SP's are still working, so it's not usually too difficult/expensive to obtain even a cosmetically perfect but non-functional example from auction/classified websites.

Is it bar oil that needs to be put in the resevoir

Yes; bar oil is SAE 30 with a some additives to make it adhere to your bar and chain. An excerpt from a Remington manual follows:

From your OM, page 9 (edited).
FILLING OIL TANK
1. Remove oil cap.
2. Fill oil tank with SAE 30 motor oil if the temperature is between 30 & 75°F

Colder use SAE 10 oil.
Warmer use SAE 40 oil.
3. Replace oil cap at once. Tighten oil cap firmly for a good seal. This will avoid oil seepage from tank.
4. Wipe off excess oil.

It is normal for oil to seep when saw is not in use.
Empty oil tank after each use to prevent seepage.
This is from a Remington OM

I recommend bar and chain oil (SAE 30 with additives to make it adhere) available at hardware stores and home centers.
From your OM, page 9 (edited).
FILLING OIL TANK
1. Remove oil cap.

Page 8 has a pretty good chain illustration, I think mine is clearer for direction.

Olympus om-4ti makes a screatching noise and stops working

The biggest clue is that you're having to take action to save the batteries. High battery consumption is a a classic sign of a faulty circuit board in this camera. Unlike most regular OM-4's, the OM-4ti generally had an improved circuit board fitted from new which was made available as a warranty repair item on regular OM4's, but you may have an early one.

The faulty circuit board manifests in other ways, most commonly the dead display/non functioning shutter except for the mechanical default speed. I've heard of the screeching fault as part of this problem but have not personally encountered it.

The fault is irrepairable as replacement boards are fashioned of finest unobtanium; the same faults affect the OM-2sp as well. This is exactly why both cameras are now available far more cheaply as used buys: potential buyers who know these models are aware that they're taking a gamble.

There is a revision marking on the "good" boards but it's largely academic. Anyone with a "good" OM4 rarely sells it, and even the revised boards are old enough to have started deteriorating by now.
