Mine is doing the exact same thing. It is as if the batter no longer works. I replaced the battery, got a new charger - nothing. It is, of course just over the year warranty. Olympus has to know about this problem and it makes me angry. I will never buy another one.

I was told try putting the camera in the freezer! yes in the freezer for 24 hours will nil battery and memory card, I did this still would not work. Costs for repair just was not worth it! In frustration after all this I shook the camera quite violently demonstrating this to a friend, and the dam thing now works! When not in use its wrapped in cotton wool in the draw, I don't know how long it will continue to do so but hey its worth a try.

    Thanks all for the responses.

It's exactly the same with my camera. It's a on and off problem. Sometimes it works perfectly with untroubled 20 or 30 shots and five minutes later I have to switch the thing off, hoping it will be wolking normally when switched on. Only over one year old it is still under warrenty - if I only still had my purchase receipt.

Well, it still works from time to time, but it certainly spoils it for me.

Thanks for all the replies. A friend suggested i put the camera in the freezer, yes the freezer for 24 hours without the battery installed or memory card, i tried this and guess what...... it still did not work!

The camera is just outside the warranty now, costs for repair just ain't worth it, so in frustration i shook the camera quite violently and when demonstrating the fault to my friend the dam thing worked! and has been working since. When not used its wrapped in cotton wool in the drawer, by worth a try. Thanks all. Bryan

Hi folks
Other than sending it in for repair (you will be charged)
Call Customer Service on the phone, Complain, ask to speak to the Customer Service manager, Complain
.
When I say complain, I mean do it nicely.
The Customer Service Reps, are just doing their job, and are limited by what they can do, Their Manager is not.
Try to remember that they listen to a lot of irate and rude customers every day, so being polite , they really do appreciate the courtasy.

This seems to be a common enough problem that they probably published a white paper for distribution to the repair facility's. so they should be aware of it.
If all else fails , inquire about their trade up program.
I would rather spend a few dollars to get a new, and possibly a
upgrade with a whole year warranty than to have to spend full price for a new one.
And if you do decide to purchase one, don't forget to register it online. They will extend your warrant and offer you a discount on accessories

Remember be persistent and pleasant. they DO want you as a satisfied customer.
Don't get frustrated and jump through the hoops.
You might just find it has a happy ending after all.
Regards and good luck, Paul

I Have olympus fe230 7.1 mp digicam it does not have a power even i bought a new battery pack.

You say you bought a new battery pack but have you actually checked it with a meter to make sure it has sufficient power?
I picked up an fe-230 used that had no batteries and bought a set of 2 batteries and a charger off ebay. According to the light on the charger the batteries are charged and ready. Only they aren't according to my meter. The el cheapo fleabay charger is no good.
So assume nothing and check your battery with a meter and go from there.

How to replace the LCD screen for my olympus FE230.

Olympus is the best way to go to fix it. Or you might be able to find a repair person who does it. Call a Ritz Camera or Wolf Camera and see if they know of anyone who does repairs. You might get lucky and find someone.Unless you can find a Disassembly instruction online...i tried but had no luck..ill keep trying though!

Stylus 770 SW Camera - causes Power Surge on USB port

Blown USB ports can happen. Most of the time, they still move power...like you can still charge devices through them, but the device won't be recognized. See if a hub will work.

Card corruption that may have been caused by not safely removing camera before actually unplugging it.
May need to use some sort of media recovery to get pictures back:
