Panasonic TV - want to remove on screen message

Panasonic LCD tv - an on screen message has appeared in top left of screen and is there permanently - can't get rid of it. It wasn't there before! Please does anyone know how we can take it off? It's the EC1/RGB message (or AV2 if you change to different AV).

Any help greatly appreciated!!!!

I have the same with a Panasonic plasma set - if the input select doesn't work (my didn't), then you have to go into the main menu and pick shipping condition - this resets everything

Model number TCP50U50 panasonic has sound but no picture

...If your LCD TV or monitor has stopped working, or is displaying one of the following symptoms, then it's a candidate for some new capacitors
- Flickering screen
- Screen image disappears after several seconds
- Dim screen
- Slow start
- Power LED on, but no picture
- Unusual colors and/or lines
The primary cause of LCD TV and monitor failure is caused by faulty capacitors. You can examine the capacitors in your LCD TV or monitor and actually see if they are bad.
If they appear bulged on top, then they need to be replaced.
New capacitors will solve a host of problems in LCD monitors and TV's and will extend the life of your monitor or TV by several years.
Check the cables, connectors and connections.
Take it to a repair shop.

Lines on tv screen

Both sound like bad LCD panels. The following must be answered to confirm this:
Do the lines appear on all inputs/all signal sources?
Can they be seen in the OSD/menu?
If yes to both questions, it is likely that the LCD panel is bad
