Question about Vacuums

1 Answer

The hose line leading out from the roller compartment is clogged and I can't access it to clean it out. How can I clean out that portion of the hose. I am assuming this is the problem because I can see it is full and the bag is not filling with anything.

If you have access to a short "snake" for cleaning sink drains, this could solve the problem for you. Use is manually to insert into the hose and carefully work it around to see if you can clear the clog this way.

I've replaced the bag, but the machine will not pick up dirt; there is no suction.

Hey, this is Jeremy with Crucial Vacuum,

I am sorry to hear that you are having issues with your Miele Vacuum. There are a few things you can check to restore suction to your vacuum.

1. Your suction setting is too low or the automatic setting is not registering properly.

2. The filters are too clogged. They need to be cleaned or replaced. Without proper air flow, your vacuum will have either decreased or no suction.

3. Vacuum hose is not air tight. If the hose or any other portion of your vacuum is leaking air it will diminish or completely abolish all suction.

4. The roller is clogged. If everything else has failed, flip over your vacuum and check the roller. If it is too clogged with hair and debris your vacuum will not be able to pick anything up. Simply remove the gunk and try starting up your vacuum again.

We have an Electrolux Epic vacuum and have a clogged hose

Hi, it's Allie from Crucial Vacuum!

Keeping your vacuum's hose unclogged and clear is very crucial to maintaining your unit running properly. Start by unplugging your unit for security reasons. Detach the hose from both ends of the unit and wand. If there is a clog you can use the end of a broom stick to gently push out the clog. Be very careful with this as you do not want to tear your hose.

If the problem doesn't seem to be a clog you may need to take a look at your belt and brush roller.

Most brush rollers can be fixed with a good cleaning. If there is too much debris cluttered around the roller and bearings, it will be unable to turn properly. Since the brush roller is connected to the belt, a dirty roller can overstrain the belt causing it to break or burning out the motor. A vacuum belt assist in turning the roller using tensions. Over time, a vacuum belt will stretch out and lose tension. A vacuum belt should be change every 6-12 months.

On the back of my lg kompressor vacuum below the retractable cord is a suction plug that keeps sucking in when the vacuum is turned on it is supposed to stay out the increase suction. what is the solution...

Remove the hose fitting on the lower back of the vacuum and you will probably find a large amount of debris lodged in the hose. That hose leads to an opening right behind the main roller brush. If you remove the brush, it is easier to remove any clogs that are inside the hose. Once you have checked that there is no clogs in that hose reconnect the hose and the brush. You should then remove all three filters and wash only the two filters inside the canister. The third filter is a HEPA filter located in a compartment on the lower front side of the vacuum. Make sure you do not wash the HEPA filter.Clean it by tapping it inside a trash can outside the house since a lot of dust will come out of it. Once the other two filters are dry, put them back inside the canister and also jake sure that the canister is empty and clean.

Most likely your vent for the suction container is plugged or the suction hose can of or is broken at the connection to the tank nozzle (very common on these. Clean the machine thoroughly, and check that all hoses are tight and connected.

When I switch it on the plastic compartment which holds the bag starts to be sucked in towards the bag and there is no suction at the end of the hose

Your Hoover U5076 has a clog. Fist unplug the vacuum from the wall socket. Remove the attachement hose from the door on the head, close the door. Remove the screw just below the main bag compartment, with a phillips or flat head screw driver. Be sure not to loose the nut in back. Hold the base down with your foot and pull up on the handle to sperate the two pieces. The lower portion revieled is the exhaust for the dirt from the motor and that is where your clog should be. Use a flat head screw drive to remove what is there so you have a clean path. If there is no clog there check the up portion that you pulled off for a clog, you may need a coat hanger to dislodge the clog. Once the path way is clear you can reassemble the vacuum and it will work fine.

No suction using extension hose for Bissell Bagless Upright vacuum. i checked for clogs and found nothing. shannon

Check the sole plate where the beater bar is. You may have to remove the roller brush flap to get into the roller brush and then check the main dust channel beside it. Usually if there's no suction on the hose it means that:
1) The hose is blocked 2) The filters are needing cleaned / washed and dried for 24 hours or see my tips! 3) There is dust clogging after the beater bar/roller brush.

I have a kirby g4 vacuum that is 12 years old. it sounds like

About once a month as I have German Shep dogs and cuz of the hair I check all the hoses to make sure they are free of dust bunnies. I also take the bottom plate off the roller, turn the lever to losen the belt and take the roller off. Clean/cut all the strings, hair etc off the roller , check the belt for cracks and burns and replace if need be. Put the roller cover back on, and reconnect the belt.

Then on the side of the machine where the bag attaches, this also slides out to clean. Sometimes heavier items will get stuck in there so that dog hair and larger items cannot pass to the bag and it clogs. This will make your suction very low.

Also a good check inside the bag compartment and clean with the attachment hose if need be, helps a great deal with ordor and dust when turned on. Especially if you have dogs/dander and hair. Ive also put carpet fresh inside my bag to keep the doggy ordor down.

Doesn't pick up: No clog seen

Change your belt as it is most likely broken, it takes a standard 7,8,9 belt in a green package. Also, it is very important that you clean the foam filters in that unit at least once a month. Dirty intake filters will decrease your suction wich can lead to clogging.

Bissel Proheat Carpet cleaner

My Bissell had the same problem. The hand attachment does not use heated water. So I Found a clog of calcium and dirt in the heater portion of the unit. The heater is in the handle behind the red heater light on the front. Remove the upper portion of the handle. Remove the lower two screws in the lower portion and the parts will split apart. Remove the hoses and remove the heater. (mark where the wires go) The bottom of the heater can be removed with a screwdriver. The tubes leading into the heater is where the clog was but there was a lot of debris inside Make sure to clear it all and the hoses as well. I put it together and it works great.
