Question about Boss Micro BR Digital Recorder

I cannot turn on my Micro BR - its plugged in and has new batteries but still won't work Does this mean it's completely broken or is there some sort of stand by phase that may have initiated itself?

The devices that have battery AND adapter capability OFTEN have a switch that the adapter opens when powered by the adapter. Often this switch contact gets bent and units won
t run on battery, so try it on an adapter... if the adapter works and battery doesn't, this contact whcih is a part of the input power connector has failed.

What about the opposite? Adapter wont run the machine however batteries will. Of course making sure the adapter itself is not the issue.

I plugged what i assumed was the correct transformer into my micro br and after a burning smell it died .obviously now i realise it was the wrong one ! unit does power on by battery still and works ok .is...

This was probably supposed to have a 5 volt power adapter... you burned up either:

1. Regulator
2. Circuit trace on the board
3. Protection diode
4. resistor ahead of the regulator.

Repair should not be too bad if they know exactly what you had connected, Make sure to use a competent shop.

Micro Br says no card when I try all of my previously working and formatted cards Thanks for your help in advance

Inspect the card connector for BROKEN off pins or damage to the connector where the card goes. Not sure what type card this takes, but pins that get pushed back in on CF cards are NOT that uncommon, especially if card has had an attempt to put in backwards.

Beyond that I am afraid the cause would be unknown.

You MIGHT try formatting a new card... If it won't go, something in the interface has gone bad.

Micro BR power Adapter

You may have damaged the data on the memory card. If you have no display at all carefully read page 125 of your manual. If it doesn't display with the adapter plugged in try new batteries. If it still doesn't display anything, contact the dealer you bought it from or try contacting Roland. This site should help:

I have boss micro br hooked up to my computer it has windows vista.I'm not finding a micro br icon to click on to open files or drag to another file to open so as to send in email.

You won't find a specific Micro Br Icon since it is a data transfer connection only.

Try going to "My computer" and it should appear similar to when you plug in a USB stick. It MIGHT have a meaningful name, but it might not.

My br no longer wants to turn on. That is, it turns on, but never gets out of the initial "Micro Br" screen. Nothing gets loaded. Nothing is possible. It has to be turned off my taking the...

I believe that the hard drive has been damaged. replace it with a new one ( I did it with a 60Gb) and get the os files from the br website. Connect drive to your computer via usb or other means and copy files after extracting on your pc. Should be good to go.

What I need is a burner for mine.

I think my Micro BR is broken

It is either that you put an incompatible SD card in it. (Believe it or not, many devices will not work with certain SD cards), or the card reader has failed. Try a Scandisk SD card or other popular brand and see if there is any difference in the messages. Otherwise I would say the card reader is faulty.
