If your dryer is not drying like it once did or if you just have not taken the time to give yourself a clean dryer in a long time then you need to do that. At least once a year the dryer cleaning should take place. Lint build up in the dryer duct is one of the main causes for your dryer to fail.

Whirlpool Imperial gas dryer won't heat up.

There are two thermal cutoffs. If you pop open the top of the dryer and find the heating element the bigger one is mounted directly on top of it and the other one is located below it. Those are the thing to check first. You can test with a multimeter set to test continuity. If those are bad that means that the exhaust vent is getting clogged. Those run about 34 bucks for the set. The other piece to check is the element itself. You can test that the same way. Those run between 50 and 70 bucks. Good luck.

Whirlpool imperial series dryer heats not spinning

This problem is almost always a broken belt. Yes you can do it yourself.
Go to repairclinic. com and put in your model number for the exploded view of your dryer. Locate the belt part number and belt orientation.

FIX IT!!!!

I believe it is your theremostat, maybe the heating element,
I would use a multimeter if you have one and set it on ohms touch it to the terminals of the thermostat, and the heating element (if you don't have a multimeter walmart sells a cheap one that will work fine for what you are doing) if you do not get a reading replace, http://www.appliancepartsworldwide.com/Store_Part.aspx?Id=493992
Here is the list for all your parts

Whirlpool Imperial Electric Dryer wont heat up

Check the following to address this issue.

1. No power to the dryer
Make sure there's power getting to the dryer. Check for tripped circuit breakers or blown fuses. An electric dryer uses two circuit breakers or fuses, and if only one of two is tripped or blown, the dryer might still run but not heat. Sometimes the power cord disconnects or burns at the dryer, if this is the case, the wiring and the terminal block must be repaired or replaced.

2. Heating element
A burned out heating element will show no continuity when measured with a meter. Replace the element if found defective.

3. Thermal fuse
Most dryers have a thermal fuse, which burns out when the dryer overheats, in which case the dryer will either not run at all or stop heating. The fuse is usually located on the vent duct, inside the dryer. A blown fuse will show no continuity when measured with a meter. Before replacing the fuse, make sure the blower wheel is not broken or clogged, and there is nothing blocking the venting.

Dryer will not heat

Model number needed to look up fuse location or simply use Repairclinic.com to look up the fuse location yourself. These newer models have not been out long enough for a retired old dude like me to come across one. But I bet I could repair it.Since yours is this new you might want to get factory service to take a gander at it before you attempt a DIY to prevent voiding any warranty you may have left.

Dryer gets hot and turns off timmer still going, wont restart for approx 20 min

there is a thermal switch it cuts out the heater element when its at temp. also so has a thermal switch that cut out the unit if it gets to hot. there will be two thermal switches or a combined one. it will have 2 to 3 wire on it and is directly connected to the the drum. one of these is the problem the thermal switch is working as its cutting out the unit. to stop a fire.
