Don't connect the camera to the computer. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use iPhoto or any other photo cataloging program.

I am needing to upgrade the operating system on my Macbook A1138. Right now it is on 10.4.11 and I want to upgrade to 10.5.8 however it does not have an intel processor. How can i do this?

unfortunately any MAC pc/laptop that doesn't have an Intel chip cant be upgraded to 10.5.8.

when apple made the switch from their own processors to intels they had to make a switch from PPC and newer builds of OSX don't come with PPC support.

Vivitar mini digital camera

The software came with my camera, received as a Christmas gift (no doubt a "regift"). The drivers and software work fine on XP but as soon as you finally get to see a picture taken with that camera you will likely toss it out or "regift" it yourself.

It supersucks.
