Me too...got a back up battery and even that fully charged won't turn on. Cleaned the heads of the battery & where it connects...nothing. Changed out the memory card...still dead. I also checked the little button where the battery door closes and still no power. Haven't dropped the camera and has worked well for the past 6mos.

Canon has a loyalty program...if you go to canon.com and call their tech support they will tell you all about it and also give you a few more troubleshooting ideas. Basically it's $90 min to have them fix it or $100 to get a SD700 refurb with a 6 month warranty. We'll see how this one goes...my SD600 was a refurb that only lasted 6 mos....hopefully the sd 700 will have a longer life! Good luck!

I have a Canon PowerShot SD600 Digital Camera. The battery has a full charge but the camera will not power up. I press on and nothing happens. What do you recomend?Best RegardsNeil

Things to check first for a camera that won't turn on are battery contact points, and micro switches that are located on the battery and memory card doors. Troubleshooting tips on other things that need to be checked may be seen here. These tips won't work for every case, but they're worth a try.

My camera says lens error and to restart it? I don't know how to do that. It is a canon elph SD600

You can try turning it off and back on a few times, maybe even remove the battery for awhile. If the lens is physically damaged or dirty inside the assembly / gears, it would actually need servicing to fix this. You'll likely need to look for a repair shop, a great one and probably the most popular for these Canon Powershot cameras is camerasandparts.com as they only work on the powershots. They tend to be the place if you need help with a canon powershot camera. They don't charge much at all and they do all of the service on the camera too. Go to that site and you'll see they have your specific lens error problem posted right there for your SD600. Good luck taking care of it, that's a very nice Canon camera model.

Battery fully charged. but canon powershot sd600

Your problem may be due to worn out batteries or corrosion on the battery contacts inside the camera which can prevent the full power of the batteries from flowing into the camera. Try this free fix before you do anything else: remove the batteries and wipe the camera contacts firmly with a dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment during cleaning, then wipe both ends of the batteries and place them back in the camera. This cleaning clears the problem about 90% of the time. If it doesn't work for you, chances are that your batteries need to be replaced because they're just too worn to properly power the camera. And then, of course, there's the possibility that your camera may have a problem that requires professional repair.

Camera will not power on

If you have a warranty that covers dropping, send it in. If not try contacting Canon, go to this link and plug in your information. http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=SupportDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=224&modelid=12913

Camera won't power up

You might try cleaning the battery compartment of the camera to make sure that the contacts are not corroded.

Battery Fully Charged Camera Won't turn on

Hi

There are several things that could cause this.

1- Check the battery door indicator switch under the battery door and beside the memory card slot. Is the little black switch damaged or missing? Try pressing down gently using a pen it with the door open and then press the power button. Does it turn on?

2- The fuse has blown and needs to be replaced. Offhand I don't recall where it is on the SD600 PCB or how hard it is to solder on a new one (depends on if its tricky to get at or not). Good thing is fuses are really cheap.

3- Other power problem with the PCB due to corrosion or impact damage. The PCB or 'motherboard' of the camera will need to be replaced.

A couple solutions would be to either buy a defective camera online and make one good camera from the two if you can do that sort of thing yourself, or secondly have it repaired by somebody.

Don't bother trying to send the camera to Canon if it is out or warranty (though you can call them and verify what I'm about to say) because they will want $150+ to do the repair for you. Parts are not cheap to buy from them.

I know of one very affordable digital camera repair business... because I own it. The name is Darntoothysam, feel free to check us out, we are on that big auction website also (I don't plug their name for free), our seller ID is 'darntoothysam'. If you Google "darntoothysam" you will find us.

If we can help with your repair then please let us know.

Hope this helps,

Thomas

In shooting mode press DISP. The display mode changes with each press.

Standard>Detailed>Off

I think you have it currently set to off.
