Ok first connect the red/white/yellow output of the dvd to the top box red/white/yellow input. Get the extra a/v cable then connect to the red/white/yellow output of the top box to red/white/yellow of the tv a/v video input A/V1 or A/V2 and last connect the RF aerial to the top box antenna in.

Record tv to dvd on Funai recorder

The Funai ZV427FX4 doesn't have a tuner. You'll need a set-top box (either a digital tuner or a cable box) that has a composite A/V out. Make sure to use a compatible DVD-R or DVD-RW disc (see page 27 of the manual given below). For basic recording, insert a DVD and press DVD to make sure that the recorder is ready to record to disc instead of video tape. (You may need to format the disc for DVD-RW.) Press Rec Mode until the correct mode is chosen. Then press Input to select composite input 1 or 2 (L1/L2). Set this source to the desired channel. Then press Rec. (For scheduled recording, make sure that the unit is set to DVD. Then press Timer. Follow the on-screen cues to set the time to start and end the recording. Otherwise the steps are the same. Then press Timer Set.) See the manual for screen-shots of the procedure.

The manual for this model is available on the product page: http://www.funaiamerica.com/product/product.php?id=877 . Click on the Downloads tab. The direct link is currently http://www.funaiport.com/download/download.php?id=3361&brand=FUNAI . For older Funai units with an NTSC tuner, you will probably still need the set-top box. However, you can either connect the box to the composite video or RF input. (If you want to record a program from a low-power analog station, you would skip the set-top box.)

I hope this helps.

When I record programmes to DVD they always seem to be in 4:3 format even if they are broadcast in 16:9. I have all settings on TV/Satellite/DVD set to 16:9 but the recorded DVD is still 4:3 format. Is...

16:9 recording is availbe on this unit.

Following are the available media to use for recording:

  • DVD-R/RW/+R/+RW; DVD+R Dual layer
I would try a different type of media.

Found this tidbit - *Not all options available for all disc formats.

Combo VCR/DVD player has no cable connection on back> How do I hook it up, through adigital box, to an older TV with one set of white, yellow and red connections?

What outputs are available on the digital box? If you have composite out (AV), then you connect the yellow (video), red and white (audio) to the VCR composite IN on the DVD player. Then connect the composite out from the DVD player to the TV. You will need an extra RCA composite cable. If you need one, they can be found in most stores. (try an online shop that specializes in cables to avoid an outrageous price). The VCR In is to the Right of the DVD/VCR Out.

If the incoming cable is only available with a coax connection, you will need a set top box and a coax splitter. Connect the incoming coax to the input of the splitter. Then connect one coax cable to the TV antenna/cable in. Connect the other to the set top box and then connect the composite output of the set top box to the VCR composite IN.

The manual and the quick start guide are available as PDFs here: http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?slg=en&scy=us&ctn=DVP3345VB/F7 . For diagrams of the connection to a cable or other set top box see the FAQs on the right hand side of the page.

If your cable box has some other output, you will need an appropriate converter to go from component to composite video for example.

I hope this helps.

I'm trying to hook up my Panasonic DVD player (model DVD-S29) to a Comcast cable box but have not been successful. My DVD player only has Audio Out connections, with no audio in connections. I...

the cable in should go to the box and cable out from the box to the TV.These should all be coaxial cables correct?Hook up the DVD player to the TV using the red, white, and yellow cables is also correct. In order to watch a DVD,you have to use the input select button on the remote for the TV ONLY to change inputs. If you have a universal remote for the TV and not the original factory remote provided with the TV,you need to use the menu button located on the outside of the TV.I just searched on my flat screen and was unable to find an input select through the menu button. It may not be possible on this TV if you do not have the original remote and if you own a universal. My universal for one of my older TV's is about 7 years old so I do not know if newer ones have an input select option. If they do not,it is most likely due to patents and royalty payments which these cheap remote makers do not want to pay.Anyhow, let me know if this helps.Just comment here and i will get an auto link to your comments.Good luck! Awa dvd recorder dr711 can this be connected to a set top box

If it's like the DR620 it will only receive analogue from the TV aerial. I connect the AV out connections on my set box to the inlet AV on the recorder and watch and record through the recorder's "rear AV input" selection.

Low volume on playback

The volume control on the TV does not affect the recording. However, if you were recording from a set top box, and you turned the volume down on the box and not the TV, then this would cause the problem you describe.

If this is the case, then try to keep the STB volume at maximum and only use the TV volume control.

Also, some DVD players and VCRs have a lower output than the standard TV tuner, so an increase in volume is usually needed.

You might want to try some test recordings to see what happens.
