Question about Canon PIXMA iP1800 InkJet Photo Printer

1 Answer

After a plane flight my PIXMA ip100 flashes green orange and shows service error 5100. Tried off and on and various fixes on internet but no joy. The carriage won't move to left from parking position like before so I can't reset the cartridges. What to do next? Don't want to make things worse!

Hi,

This error is a carriage error - your printer's print head cannot locate its position.

Locate and clean the encoder strip behind the carriage - it is a thin film that is hanging across the printer. Use qtips and a bit of alcohol to clean it.

In case, if the problem persists, unfortunately you need to send the unit for repair.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Cannon Pixma ip90 printer mechanical failure code 5100. Printer works for about 2 inches then stops with failure code 5100

The error 5100 actually means nothing. You need to look at the printers green and orange lights. they will be flashing in a certain sequence. Count the way the lamps flash ie.Green are mechanical faults and orange are operator correctable faults. When you have the info repost and i will help you further.

check the status of the printer in its driver. the error will be shown there. error 5100 is the most common. error 5100 means the carriage is experiencing difficulty in moving itself.

That is a "general" error.
Please note that the power LED is flashing you a message (blinking green and / or orange).
Like green 3 times.... or green/orange
Please comment what the light is doing...
Or go to canon and view the possibilities:

Service Error 5100

Somtimes in order to get the printer to reset properly you must turn it off, unplug the usb (or other data cable), unplug the power cord and wait a bit. (Canon says 10mins.!).
Then reconnect cables and turn it on.
This should reset an alternate orange/green light condition.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take a moment to kindly rate this post....thanks!

Green and orange lights flashing, saying service error 6000

read all first!
you didn't say how many blinking
and in what order so ...
First thing you need to do is print an EEPROM information page, step number 2 below.
Once you have an EEPROM print you can reset the waste ink counter, if needed, which is step number 4 below.
Service Mode: This printer has a service mode for service-related settings and for performing test prints. The operator panel buttons are used to enter the desired service mode.
Service Mode Operations
With the printer powered off, hold down the "Resume Button" and press the "Power Button".

While holding down the "Power Button", release the Resume Button" and press the "Resume Button" twice in succession. Now release the "Power Button".

The indicator will blink in green and remain lit in green.

Select one of the following service mode functions by pressing the “Resume Button” the specified number of times.

1 time = Service test print.
2 times = EEPROM information print.
3 times = EEPROM initialization
4 times = Waste ink counter resetting
5 times = Destination settings
6 times = Print head deep cleaning

Then press the “Power Button” one time to perform selected function.

If you press the "Power Button" two times it will take you out of service mode.

This information is listed above in this thread and many times in other Canon threads in this forum. I simplified Canons wording so I could remember the service mode functions easier.

Error code 6A00

6A00 error on a Canon IP4200 is an AP Postion Error. This means one of three things. A problem with the sheet feeder, Logic board or the Purge Unit. Sadly these part are either working or not working and are difficult to repair. You could try resetting the EEPROM on the unit by entering service mode. A service manual will show you how to do that:
