Question about IBM ThinkPad G40 2388 Notebook
Is replacing a cold fusion lamp an easy thing to do? The underlying question is: is this laptop fixable? I'll try pressing the F keys before set up, I only did it afterward before. Someone else mentioned that the "screen card" might be the problem--what does that mean?
NO replacing the Cold Fusion lamp is NOT EASY if your are not experienced with these do not try it . YES your laptop is very much FIXABLE . When you see the POST PROCESS on your screen then you press Fn key at the bottom left hand corner keep it depressed and then press the function key with the computer icon 2 times - first time switches display to external monitor only , second time to both LCD and External monitor. Actually for LCD screen to glow a small thin fluroscent lamp is used which requires a high voltage of about 150-200volts that is generated by this so called screen card - the correct name Invertor PCB or board.
