This will depend on the store you bought it from. To alleviate the low signal, however, you can try a few things. How far is your computer from the router? Have you tried multiple machines, and do all get low signal? It's possible that other routers in the area are interfering, and if that's the case you can change the channel from the common default of 11 to something else.

Power cycle both your router and modem, that might fix your issue. You could also save yourself the time and try going onto your routers IP page, if it doesn't let you or you do get on it and it doesn't except changes in settings its probably time to purchase a new one.

It is possible that a neighbor purchased a wireless access point that it on the same channel and they are competing. Change your wireless channel. You could also try a hard reset. Instructions at D-Link's website. Good luck!

I have a cable modem and want to get wireless...do i need to purchase a wireless cable modem or can i just purchase a wireless router and somehow hook them together?

You can just purchase a wireless router :) I personally like netgear routers haven't had the best luck with linksys. Then connect the two with a ethernet cable. The router will give you instructions and a cd to set up :) how this helps

Need Advice On Linking 2 Pcs And A Wireless Lap Top

Pick up a linksys 4 port wireless Router. You will be able to run 4 wired devices and as many wireless devices as you desire. I run 2 desktops, a laptop a 4 in one wireless, print, fax, copy and scanner, along with 2 smart phones that run on wireless or 3g. And use them all sometimes without a hickup. We also play online games, my wife likes to shoot things online. The wired end is good for a desktop also, if you do banking, day trading etc. I work from home and have for over a decade, I have tried other routers, and this one for consumers is best as far as I amd concerned. Your modem pluges into thr router, you type in ,192.168.1.1, "the routers set up page" type in the info from your isp, "only a few items, like the ip and DNS" and select the security from one of the choices like "wep2", select a 10 digit encryption key, of your choosing, and that is about it. Good luck ,and maybe get your "stuff" from the sat company out so you have your settings handy, good luck

Reset the modem while the router is plugged into it. Do this by disconnecting the power to the modem and then reconnecting.

NETGEAR wgr614 cable wireless router

Hello,
have you tried to follow the manual chapter 3, page 3-1 ?
If you lost your manual you can find one here:
http://kbserver.netgear.com/pdf/wgr614v6_ref_man_20Apr05.pdf

One of your computers can go online because its using a wired connection to the router, but the wireless clients cannot access the connection - is this right?

Then you only need to setup the wireless part in the router.
