Question about Refrigerators

Open Question

I have a whirlpool side by side refrigerator (model # ED25TW) and my icemaker has a number of ( IM#S 106 626636). My problem is that the water is overfilling the ice tray. My question is can I adjust the length of time the valve is supplied voltage. It appears that the icemaker has two adjustment screws located in the front panel (one in front, and one on the side of unit). please advise if one of these control the time length of voltage to the inlet valve. If so, which one and what direction (clockwise or counterclockwise) to decrease the time of voltage to the valve. Thank you Gary French

SOURCE: Ice maker # S10626636 water level adjustment

IF THE ICE MAKER IS OVERFLOWING, THE ADJUSTMENT SCREW WON'T HELP. ON MODULAR ICE MAKERS, THE BIG
WHITE GEAR ON THE FRONT BEHIND THE COVER HAS CIRCUIT TRACES ON ITS BACKSIDE THAT WILL ARC, BURNING THE PLASTIC GEAR, BRIDGING THE FILL CIRCUIT WITH ANOTHER TRACE, MORE THAN DOUBLING THE FILL TIME. THE MODULE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. (GEAR IS NOT AVAILABLE BY ITSELF).THE MODULE IS THE SQUARE PLASTIC ASSEMBLY MOUNTED TO THE FRONT OF THE ICE MAKER WITH THREE SCREWS. INCLUDES THE MOTOR.

SOURCE: Whirlpool Side-by-Side Refrigerator No Water to Icemaker or Door

If you don't get water at the valve and it has power it is likely clogged. Take it apart and find most likely a part where the rubber has softened and clogged a hole that is supposed to open up when the valve is triggered. On mine it was at the bottom of a little metal pole that the rubber was bad. Clear the clogged hole and replace the bad seal and you should now have water.

All you need to do is turn water off until someone can replace the dual water control valve found on floor and back side of your refrigerator. You are going to need your model number so you can find the correct parts. Most Whirlpool Refrigerator model numbers are found inside the fresh food compartment and around the door. Whirlpool refrigerators made in the U. S. will find the parts manuals by going here=> User Manuals
A pace to find parts is by entering your model number=> HERE am not sure why many places have the dual water control valve with the photo of your ice maker. If you have questions I will be here so please ask. Thank You Sea Breeze

No water flow to icemaker

First verify the fill tube feeding the IM is not frozen with ice. Then verify the water valve is working and power is applied when the IM cycles, It will be one of these things.

Either the inlet valve is stuck or the icemaker solenoid is shored.

Most likely the second one.

Try using an hairdryer or defrosting the unit completely , this often get rid of blockage caused by frozen lines fixing the problem.

The water lines can also be unblocked from dirt using a thin flexible shaft. This after defrosting.

If all that does not fix the problem, then you may need to replace the water valve, the icemaker solenoid, or the whole icemaker assembly.

Broken ice maker in whirlpool side by side refrig model no.ed2ghgxmq00

1. Check freezer temp. Above 5 degrees? Icemaker will not start. 2. Make sure there is water coming to the refrigerator from the supply line. 3. Is the refrigerator clean underneath? Fan running? Dirty refer bottom can cause high freezer temps, see #1. Ideal freezer temp is -5. Icemaker and valve should be checked by a service tech.
