Hello Jacquie Burgess,
Thermal cut off triggered - Part number 279973
(you MUST verify part number).
Sadly... I went out onto my favorite site looking for High-temp
cut-off or thermal limiters (ELECTRONIC)... but "APPLIANCEPARTSPROS" failed to RE-
CONFIRM their very
OWN number they gave out... wp697772
A direct call FROM YOU would be appropriate...
BETTER STILL... would be
YOUR OWN part number from your
owner's manual...
However... the are MECHANICAL reasons your dryer may actually be reaching OVER-TEMPERATURE situations...
and your machine could be correctly shutting down for SAFETY REASONS:
TWO Principal reasons would be
- A BLOCKED dryer vent (usually lint
)
- A Broken/Defective Blower
To check AIR-FLOW... You outside dryer vent should be putting out a POWERFUL stream of hot air..
If you do NOT feel that powerful air flow... disconnect the vent behind your machine and check it again there...
If there is a difference you HOUSE DUCT needs to be clean
(do this regularly to prevent FIRE DANGER).
Then...
IF no powerful air flow is felt directly behind your machine... your BLOWER IS DEFECTIVE (see below)
I had a similar issue on my Kenmore Elite (turned out to be a blocked VENT (
BIRD: inside the MACHINE).
Else your HIGH-TEMP LIMITER is DEFECTIVE and needs replacing (possibly... WP3391914, (you MUST verify)).
Hope this helps.
