Question about Computers & Internet

When I start my computer it goes to a black screen that tells me my computer did not start successfully and that that I can pick to start my computer in safe mode, safe mode with networking , safe mode with comand prompt, last known good configuration, or start normally, and I tried all of those options and the same screen continues to pop up. I am leaving for Hawaii in the morning and I need my computer to do my homework and email my professors, I also do not have any of the disks to use. What can I do???

Try Safe Mode with networking, if your computer cannot start in normal mode. Safe mode with networking would allow you to use minimal drivers etc. while still allowing you to go on the internet. ISafe mode w/ command prompt will probably not be much use to you and if Safe Mode w/ networking does not work Safe mode will likely not work too. Last known good configuration is a good failsafe and may undo anything that may have caused your computer to go screwy. Going into safe mode w/ networking is only a temp fix if it works, as you have reduced functionality (as you will see) but if you only need to access files, it will work great. Any more questions, come back to this thread

Hope I was able to help

Computer starts up then shuts down

A computer is a magnet for problems. If you use your computer to surf online, you can collect many viruses and such. This article will help you if you ever have a problem with your computer shutting down before it even starts up.

1.Is this your problem? This problem comes on suddenly. You will know this is your problem if you computer shuts down for no reason.
2.Confirm your problem. You can do this by trying to restart your computer. When your computer gets to your desktop screen it will shut down again before any programs have a time to start.
This will not happen on a log in screen where you pick which user you are. You have to pick the user you had this problem on for a true confirmation.
3.Go ahead and restart your computer again. When it goes to the first screen there will be options for you to do before the screen disappears.
4.Locate which button you have to press for a system recovery. It will say something like "F11 - System Recovery."
5.Press the correct button on your keyboard corresponding with System Recovery before the screen disappears. If you missed your opportunity, let the computer restart and try again.
6.This should bring you to a system recovery wizard. Tell this wizard you want to recover to a previous date. Follow the instructions. When you get to a page where it asks you what point you want to restore to, pick a restore point two or more days before the day your problem began.
7.Finish the wizard and restart your computer. It should now load up the programs and a message should eventually appear saying something like "System Recovery Successful."

I am hoping your problem will be fixed. Best regards.

Gateway laptop mx3414-black screen cannot load windows

Try going into safe mode upon startup by hitting the F8 button. If it does then hit safe mode to get into your computer. Go to start>accessories>system tools>system restore. Follow the wizard to restore your computer to a date earlier than when you started having problems. Let me know if you have any problems or questions.

Black screen comes up "windows did not start successfully...." choose from safe mode, safe mode with networking etc Last known Configuration or Start Windows Normally. Computer then tries to...

You should opt Safe Mode:
  • On the black screen just navigate throug up and down arrow keys.
  • Goto Safe Mode and press enter.
  • It will boot your system in safe mode.
If the boot is success full:
  • try to remember any software or hardware you recently installed/change. Then remove/uninstall that software/hardware. Also remove some device driver like Video/Audio driver and make re-start. and try to normal boot. If success then install your audio/video.
If no success then I think its time to re-install your windows.
Please post your feed-back.
