Question about Televison & Video
In that case the problem is in the logic controller - the audio control section is faulty. you can test that very easily: just jump the in and out pins on the controller and the sound should spike to full volume. You must replace the logic board.

The buttons (on the case) and remote sensor board is attached to the logic board - the one on which the processor is soldered. The entire logic board will have to be replaced - a new part can be ordered either directly to a LG dealer/repair shop or thru specialized sites like

Sounds like either your audio fuse or power supply is the problem to ensure this is the case before returning or having a technician look at it. what you will want to do is go into the users guide and find the reset factory defaults option usually it involves holding a button or two while starting the device however are sometimes very different. this will ensure that it is a hardware problem before spending anytime or effort returning or fixing it
hope this helps

I've reset the TV to the factory default settings and nothing has changed. At about 80% volume, using the cable box for volume or the unit tuner (or any combination of both) the problem remains. What I do notice is that the volume will return for a short while if I raise or lower the volume although it is still tinny and staticy.
Please reply to my latest comment. Thank you.
My 42" LG LCD has developed a tinny sound The left speaker has a lot of static, the volume is very low and after a few minutes the sound goes away completely

Thank you. How do I identify/locate the logic controller?
