I need a replacement element (8 inch) for my Kelvinator range (model no. KRS J3L-1)

Hi, W/D here.
Here's the easiest way that I know of to repair your stove:
Remove your element. Most can be removed by lifting the element on the side away from where the leads disappear under the stove top, and then pulling it out of the plug-in socket.
Take the element with you to one of the larger hardware stores, and locate the elements that have your style of terminals. The elements are generic; that's why you needed your old one. I have replaced dozens of elements and have found the generics to be every bit as good as one ordered, and cheaper, too!
Best regards, --W/D--

Sounds like it is the wrong element. I wouldn't like to advise further without seing it. Contact your supplier and ask for an explanation.

It's not heating anything i put inside

hello,

what this means is that there have been a disconnection from the element i.e the heat provider is it silver in color
or it weak it might need a replacement ,what you are to do to fix up this problem is to open (unscrew) then trace the wire down to the element if there is any loose wire the fix it up on the element but there non it mean that the element will need a replacement
You can get this element in a good technician hop around you for the replacement
please rate this

thank you.

Kenwood convection microwave all working except doesn't heat

hello ,

what you need to do to fix up your oven i to unscrew it then trace the wire down to the element (heater) it is silver in colour check if there is any form of disconnection if there is then you will have to locate where it from on the element then fix it up to the position .

But if there is no ant form of disconnection on then it mean that the element is weak it will need a replacement , you can get the new element from the store around you

please note this, make sure that you are buying the same size and voltage from the store for replacement .
Good lock and thanks for using fixya.

Bread will not stay down; element does not get hot (Kenmore toaster- 10 -12 years old). I don't know if there is spring that needs to be replaced or if the element itself is gone. How would I test for this...

Hi and welcome to Fixya. There is a simple test you can do with an ohm meter across the heating element connections.

The unit must be unplugged and your going to have to remove the cover.

Check for any signs of low resistance across the element connections. No resistance or infinity and the element is history.

Any sliced bread toaster with a failed heating element will have the symptoms you described. However, it could also be the mating contact has failed which is closed when the bread holder is in the down postion.

My experience... 10 - 12 year old toasters are not worth repairing unless it is a commercial type unit. By the time you order the needed parts and pay the shipping you far exceed unit replacement costs. Repair costs rise even more if you ship it or hand carry it to a repair service center.
