Hello

It sounds like the players laser has gone bad. Does it make any noises or do anyhting out of the normal when it goes to read the disc??

The first thing I would try to do is clean the laser. You can do this by buying a cleaning disc at any electronic retailer.

The error message is sure sign that the laser inside the player has gone bad. How old is the player?? I can look up parts and where to get them if you want and I can give you some details about how to change the parts.

Device will not play previously recorded discs or record new info, but will play shop bought discs.on occasions it will display disc error. i am using new discs.

I Have had this same problem with DVD recorders. They sometimes will not play disc that were recorded on another player, you have to play these on the recorder that you used to make the recording. When recording you must finalize the discs to get them to play in other recorders, if they aren't finalized then the dvd wont recognize them as being recorded, there is no starting point set on the disc for the laser to pick up on. I have also ran into discs bought at the store that were not any good and I couldn't record on them, or when I did I would get the disc error message also. Try another brand of disc, say Memorex or Soney amd see if these will work, make sure they are compatible with the player, and they are the correct format for your player. There are 2 types DVD -R and DVD + R the + R work better on a wider range of players.

When you try to play a DVD game on Xbox 360 it tries to play as a movie?

c on your Xbox 360 console, you may receive an error message. This article presents step-by-step guidance to help you determine whether your disc is playable.
SYMPTOMS When you try to play a disc, you may receive the following error message: Can’t read this DVD.
CAUSE The DVD or game disc may be dirty or damaged. Because the console cannot read the disc well, it may even mistake a game disc for a DVD and report this error. If this problem occurs with multiple discs, even clean and undamaged discs, there may be a problem with your Xbox 360 console.
Note If you receive a different error message, such as one of the following messages, the problem is a different problem:
Error message 1 Can't play DVD. Wrong region code. Error message 2 Can’t play DVD. Family settings restrict playback of this DVD. If you receive one of these error messages, see the corresponding Knowledge Base article: 907620 While attempting to play a standard DVD movie using your Xbox 360 console, you receive the error message: "Can't play DVD. Wrong region code" 908645 While attempting to play a DVD movie using your Xbox 360 console, you receive the error message: "Can’t play DVD. Family settings restrict playback of this DVD"
THINGS TO TRY Here are some things that you can do to try to fix the problem or to determine what caused it.
Determine whether the disc is dirty or damaged Discs that are smudged, scratched, or otherwise damaged cannot be read by the Xbox 360 console. You will want to examine the disc to see whether it has smudges, scratches, or other damage. To do this, follow these steps: 1. Examine the disc for dirt or damage: a. Pick up the disc by its edges. Do not touch the top or bottom surface. b. Examine the shiny side of the disc to make sure that the disc is clean and has no damage.
NoteScratches that follow the curve of the disc are very damaging and prevent a disc from being read. If your disc has even one of these kinds of scratches, the disc is damaged, and you will no longer be able to play it. If this is the case, see step 4. 2. If the disc is dirty, clean the disc by hand: • Use a soft, clean, dry, chemical-free cloth to clean the disc. • Lightly wipe from the center of the disc outward. 3. After you clean the disc, try to load it in the Xbox 360 console. If the disc still will not load or you receive the same error message, the disc is damaged, and you will no longer be able to play it. If this is the case, see step 4. 4. If the disc is damaged, do one of the following: • Because DVD discs are not game discs and the disc was damaged because of misuse of some type, such as not storing the disc in its case, the only thing that you can do is buy a new one. • If you feel that the disc was damaged by the Xbox 360 console in some way, please contact Xbox Customer Support. Disc spins, then " Type of disc can not be played" message

it means the format of the type of cd u put in cannot be played by the system.

try playing the disc it on another player, if it does the same, it means the disc cannot be played. some players dont play mp3 format, blu ray, and some others, so you can check the kind of disc you want to play on it.

EXT1 is not an error - that message means that the dvd player is on input "EXT1" - so it is trying to display whatever is connected to EXT1 in the back of your DVD player, whether it is a cable/sat box, another vhs player, etc. The message may be getting displayed for a number of reasons - but, if you put in an incompatilbe/unfinalized disc type, and it is not able to play that disc, it may default to EXT1 b/c it is searching for some type of usable signal.

The MRV700VR is only compatible with certain discs types - and the disc types that you are trying to insert must also be finalized discs. I would reccomend only using the compatible disc types listed in your user's manual - some of them are getting harder-to-find. 16x discs are very iffy with this machine. 8x discs are best.

I have the full user's manual, so I can give you any more details that you request.

Computer Burned discs are a grey area for some players[different firmware/chipsets] There is a list on the web of players and what they will play a Google/Yahoo will reveal. Also checkout the manual that came with the player.
