I've had a problem with the contacts being broken. there are little contacts on the bottom of the plates that spring out when it is reinstalled. they push against 2 wires inside teh unit. make sure they have good contact...

The Ionic Breeze cleaning light is probably controlled by the resistance or capacitance measured between the cathode wires and the anode plates in the unit. If the circuit characteristics are changed then the system will react as if there was a load of contaminents (dust) on the anodes. Clean all of the connections (the flapper plates, the connection spikes, and the ground connections.) very gently use very fine sandpaper or steal wool to clean the cathode wires (they will form a crust after a few years. Be very carefull these wires are very delecate. Yearly cleaning with canned air and polishing the connections will help to keep the unit health. In high humidity the dust can become almost like tar.
