I have a HP media center pc and recently bought a hp personal media drive (500 gb). I can't seem to install the software. I am not clear if the software comes seperately or is contained in the drive. I follow the instructions but when I open the PMD folder, there is no HPDI.exe file.

You need to state exactly what model and hardware configuration you have, along with version, date, OS.

Software is already installed in the drive. Its an USB connection inside, so the PC should recognize it when its plugged in. Return it before you run out of the typically 2 week return time frame.

I have a HP Media Center M7760N and I purchased a HP Personal Media Drive 2 tb. the problem is when I insert the personal media my computer freezes up My question to u is how can I recover the info a with...

You can try a 3rd party data recovery software to recover your data off the media drive.I have succeed to recover data from external hard drive with Tenorshare data recovery. It can recover data after deeply scanning your portable drive to look for lost data due to drives crash, physical damage, system sabotage, virus corrupted partitions etc.Download it and scan your media drive for free to preview whether your data can be recovered. http://www.any-data-recovery.com/product/datarecoveryprofessional.htm

What personal media drive will fit the HP m 1190n media bay. Will any fit or are they part number specific? Thank you

Not sure what you mean by personal media player.

1) If its an Ipod or any MP3 player, you should be able to connect any via a USB cable, or directly plugged in.

2) if you mean CD or DVD drive/player like the one that came with it, they're generic, any with the correct interface (IDE or SATA) Though I think SATA in this case.

Here's a URL with the full specification of your system to help:-

If you mean the "personal media bay" listed here, I think were back to a generice CD/DVD drive.

HP Media Centre PC 7250 can I add a hard drive?

Here's a step by step guide for that HP 7250 model on HP's website about how to replace, or remove/add the Primary and Secondary Hard Drives (which pictures that help).

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00639696&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=1118243&rule=29389&lang=en

If your computer did not come with a second hard drive, you can install a second hard drive that you attach to the bottom of the inside of the computer tower.

Good Morning aspevak
Depending on the internal video card, you have to install the correct driver for your monitor, and video card, other than that is just setting on control panel and advance setting , all the features, for the colors, or profiles.
