Question about Lexmark Office Equipment & Supplies

2 Answers

I have a Lexmark Z2390. When I bought it there was an ink cartridge already in it. FYI I do not do a lot of printing therefore after several years the ink has finally run out! I have a spare ink cartridge which I was assured was the correct replacement, but when I went to change it I could NOT get the carriage to a position that would allow the change. HELP!

Further to the problem already stated; the carriage DID NOT return to a place where I could change the cartridge. I need to know if there is ANYTHING I can do to rectify this problem.

Unplug the printer from the wall and with the lid cover open, reach your finger into the carriage and move it to the center. You will not break anything by moving it with your finger, if you can't reach it with your finger then grab a pencil and use that to move the carriage. Now change the ink cartridge and plug it back into the wall.

The correct procedure is turning the printer on or making sure it is on, then lifting the cover. In a few seconds the carriage will get to a position suitable for cartirdge replacement. If it did not do that, does it work correctly (it prints correctly)?

Lexmark S305 won't authenticate ink non brand

Lexmark does not recommend the use of refilled, re-manufactured or clone cartridges. You might not get the print quality you expect from ink that is specially formulated by Lexmark. Also, when you use off-brand inks and cartridges, there is no way for Lexmark to be sure that materials and engineering choices used by a third party will not result in poor print quality or damage to your printer.
I highly recommend that you return your third-party cartridge if you still can get a refund and purchase genuine Lexmark cartridges instead.
Here's a tip to save on ink: A 100 "standard yield" cartridge for your model has a low sales price, but contains less ink. Your best value is a 100XL "high yield" cartridge. These have a higher sticker price, but contain almost 3 times as much ink as their standard yield cousins.

For the most optimal output experience with your model, I recommends that you update your printer firmware. The firmware helps ensure that you receive the highest yields of ink available from the cartridges, which offers the greatest value and means fewer necessary cartridge replacements. Please visit the Lexmark website to download and install the Lexmark S300 Series Firmware Update. If more than one download is listed for your model, choose the first download in the list. If it is the wrong firmware level, an error message will tell you which firmware level is correct.

My printer is a lexmark 2600. i bought a black ink only. when i wanted to print, its not working. it said that i have to alignment it first. i did it already many times, but it's still not...

Some of the Lexmark printers have a sensor that looks for the cartridges and if one is missing it may not print.

The first thing you could try is to reload the Lexmark software from the CD that came with the machine and see if that works. If it does not, you may have to have a cartridge in the color slot to make it print. You could try an empty color cartridge in the slot if you cold find one.

Good luck................Pete

I have a Lexmark X5495 printer, and I refilled the black cartridge. Is there any way to override the ink levels?

Once a cartridge is refilled, it can no longer report it's true ink level. Just an FYI: you might not get the print quality you expect from ink that is specially formulated by Lexmark to pass through microscopic nozzles at extremely high temperatures.

My colour cartridge ran out on my Z2390 and I replaced just the black cartridge now it wont print as it says I need to replace the color one

Lexmark used remote access to sort the problem. Although I altered the setting on the print page to black and white it was defaulting back to the original settings. They changed this through my computer and the print settings ans now all is ok.

I have a Lexmark X1150 printer that is printing purple only.

Try the "better" or "best" print options - They give more ink - might do the trick - (beware it also prints a lot more slowly....)

I have not had that type of problem as such as both my ink slots work, but I did have purple/bluish print instead of black once - It worked for me -
Hope that helps -

I have also found that despite cartridges being new somethimes they are not as full as they should....

Printing with generic cartridges

Lexmark International does not recommend the use of third party inks or inkjet cartridge refill kits. Genuine Lexmark inks and cartridges are perfectly matched to the printing system. Using genuine Lexmark ink and cartridges ensures that every document produced is of the highest possible print quality, providing long-term dependable service from your Lexmark printer.

Lexmark cannot assure the excellent print quality and reliability of its inkjet cartridges after a cartridge has been refilled. Using incompatible inks in an attempt to extend the life of a genuine Lexmark cartridge beyond its recommended usage can cause failures in several different areas of the printer. Inkjet cartridges and printer failures caused by refilling or a third party ink are not covered by your Lexmark printer Warranty, Extended Warranty or Service Agreement.

Please use genuine Lexmark cartridges for best results.

Colored Ink problem

Make sure the printer settings are set properly to print in color on the PC. Even if there is a color cartridge, if the PC only tells it to print black ink it's not going to use the color cartridge.
