Can be the aging issue of dry soldering. If the fault is so consistent or evident on tapping of the set or if you think it is a thermal runaway., then it is important to take a look inside and check the areas of heat.
If you can solder these sections , take it as the first option.
however if the fault is very much time based it can be relative to the microprocessor which can be tripping off in a set schedule.
the fault can be fixed for sure but if the fault is with the microprocessor, then you will need to take some voltage checks to confirm tin the off and on state.
