Search ebay for a DC Jack for your model. Disassemble your laptop. Desolder the broken DC Jack from the laptop motherboard. Solder the new DC jack onto the motherboard and reassemble laptop. If your not experienced in soldering of disassembling laptops I would recommend you hire someone to do this job. If you wish contact me jason@jrdtech.net

    I would definitely have to be one of those people that would have to hire some computer repair experts. I wonder if that's what the problem was with my old computer? I thought it was the cord itself for the longest time, but maybe it was just the DC Jack.

You're screwed - like on most laptops the factory will say you need to replace motherboard as the power jack is soldered in. Options: You can try to solder it yourself, but its typically hard to take apart the laptop to get to this area. You can take out the hard disk (much easier) and swap it into another similar laptop. You can hard wire in the output from the adaptor thru the battery section.

My computer does not start up looks like in satnd by mode

Most All-in-One Personal Computers (PCs) are based on internal laptop/notebook component technology.

The first item to test is the Alternating Current (AC)/ Direct Current (DC) Power Adapter to see if there is:

damage or a fault in the cabling;

damage or a fault in the transformer box;

a fault, damage or a loose connection in the AC/DC Adapter Jack point via which the AC/DC Adapter plugs into the PC.

If no AC/DC Adapter-related fault is evident or any such fault is definitively resolved (such as by testing a definitively functional replacement AC/DC Adapter), then his sounds like either a Loose AC/DC Power Jack detached from or short-circuiting its Motherboard Solder Points, a Power Management problem on the Power Management Tracks, Electrolytic Capacitors or Power Management Contoller Integrated Circuit (IC)/Chip on the Motherboard or a Graphics Chip or Graphics Card damaged surface or Motherboard Solder Point Contact fault.

Any of the 3 internal faults described above would require specialist internal diagnostics, repair and testing by a technician with specialist laptop repair experience and specialist Infra Red Workstation, BGA Reballing StationMicro-Soldering, Oscilloscope, and Multi-Metering equipment.

DC Jack repairs are likely to be moderately expensive. Power Management or Graphics repairs are likely to be more expensive still, but if conducted by a professional, all three repairs should resolve the problem. A competent repair technician should be able to repair these faults and offer a minimum 3 month warranty on a reoccurrence of the same fault.

So, on the symptoms described in the question, yes. Unless it is just an AC/DC Adapter fault, this will probably prove to be a serious, non-DIY repair problem, I'm afraid.

I reset my surge protector and the computer wont power up. i think i need a new power supply. the power cord is working fine. Please let me know where i can find a power supply for the aspire...

The Acer Aspire L100 is a desktop computer powered by a special DC adapter and power cable. The computer's motherboard incorporates a fuse designed to prevent any power surges from damaging the computer. If the fuse burns out due to a power surge or for any other reason, the computer will no longer function. You can check the motherboard fuse for damage yourself, then take it to a trained technician for replacement if needed

Shut down the Acer Aspire L100 and turn the tower around.

Press the "On/Off" button on the front of the tower. If the computer will not boot and the fan does not turn on, the fuse may be burned out.

Unplug the power cord from the rear of the tower

Turn the tower on its side and remove the Phillips-head screws connecting the back panel to the Aspire L100's cabinet.

Pull out the motherboard assembly gently from the back of the cabinet. The internal fuse is located on the motherboard behind the DC power jack, which is to the right of the monitor jack

Let me know if this helped..

    I need speakers for my dell dimension 9100 pc

    Just about every PC will accept about any PC speaker system. Your computer has 'Line out' jacks that supply the right level of signal for practically all speaker sets that have their own internal power amplifier. Two-speaker sets are around $20 US with prices and quality going up from there.

    Laptop wont come on

    1. Take the battery out of the laptop & try to turn on the laptop using power adapter only. If the computer turns on, then the battery is defective & needs to be replaced.
    2. Make sure the power adapter is not defective. Test the output voltage of the power adapter using a voltmeter. Compare the voltmeter reading to the nominal value written on the adapter or the laptop.
    3. Make sure the DC jack is not loose or broken. A loose DC jack will need to be re-soldered. A broken one will need to be replaced.
    4. If you have another processor which is compatible with your laptop's model, try swapping processors & test to see if the laptop will work.
    5. The power button could be bad.
    6. The motherboard could be defective & needs to be replaced

    I cannot switch on my Acer travelmate 283XC. The battery went flat and I have now plugged it in the wall but when I press the power button nothing happens...

    Try this; Disconnect from the AC outlet rmove the dc plug from the jack. Remove the Battery and wait for 5 mins and plug in the AC? DC adaptor without the battery. If the Laptop runs, then wait for the Windows to totally boot up and while running try to put back the battery and observe if it still charges. If not then try to replace the battery with a new one.

    hope this helps.

    Acer DC Power Jack

    well..actually, it's installed on the motherboard..you'd need to strip the whole unit open, and then figure out how to desolder it from both top and bottom layers of the board..loads of potential issues arise on that.
