find the power source (usually at the circuit breaker panel)-then turn the breaker for the dishwasher off and return to on after 10 minutes and try restarting.

Check to make sure there r no kinks’ in the drain line or that it is not clogged it sounds like the sensor is tripping because there is too much strain on the pump just like a breaker.

SOURCE: My Smeg dishwasher DWF 64 SSE won't go onto rinse or dry

Easy one first try this to see if it helps

Water pre-heating
Your dishwasher may pre-heat the water. If so, and if the water entering the dishwasher is cool, the heater may take up to half an hour to heat the water.

To avoid the wait, increase the incoming water temperature before turning on the dishwasher. Do that by running the kitchen sink faucet until the water runs hot. Or increase the temperature of the hot water to the entire house at the hot water heater.

Warning! To lessen the risk of scalding, don't set the hot water heater temperature higher than 120 degrees Fahrenheit.

take the kick panel off. On some smeg, there is a small suppressor capacitor on the lhs tucked in the wiring. this breaks down. snip it off - no need to replace

What is error code E1? Dishwasher is not drawing in water on any programmes and this is the code I get

I get this a lot. Its due to a leak inside the bodywork, letting water build up in hte base and operating the float switch. You will have to pull out the dishwasher, tip it backwards and mop up all the water that comes out. (usual precautions about turning it off etc apply). That will get it going. Then find the leak. Mine leaks from the O ring seals on the air break chamber inside the right hand cover. I have used silicon sealant in the past, but I need to remove it and replace the O rings. Trouble is, I cant see how it comes undone on the inside (is it a bit nut?)

I have a smeg dishwasher which keeps displaying error code 8. I know this has something to do with the water supply to the baskets but have checked and there does not seem to be a blockage. Any help...

Hi

I saw your post today and see your fault was dated back in July 2008. Well its a year late and I had the same problem coming up on my machine SMEG DWI 614, error E8 to be exact. After 6 hours of trying to resolve this cleaning PCB, etc. (one can see its the recession and money is scarce) I finally pulled out the diverter valve, dismantled it and left it in some boiling water with limescale remover. I made sure the plastic teeth in the mechanism could spin properly and inserted back into the machine....

And finally the machine works once again. It was 6 hours of my time but probably saved me +/- £150.
