The flow ducts from the freezer to the lower part were frozen solid. Once fridge thawed and drained, all worked fine again. Flow duct very hard to get at.

FREEZER COOLING OK BUT FRIDGE LOW COOLING

Remember that most all refrigerators only have cooling to the freezer... the refrigerator depends on stealing some of that cold to be cool, so here's my top 3 guesses...
Cause 1 The defrost heater is defective, so frost accumulates on the evaporator coils, and the coils will become plugged with frost causing the airflow through the coils to be restricted, and the refrigerator not to cool. Check the evaporator coils to determine if they are frosted over. If the evaporator coils are frosted over, test each component of the defrost system after clearing any restrictions to the cooling fan and defrosting with a hair dryer.
Cause 2
The evaporator fan motor draws cold air over the evaporator coils and circulates it throughout the freezer. If the evaporator fan is not working, the freezer or refrigerator will not cool adequately. To determine if the evaporator fan motor is defective, try turning the fan blade by hand. If the fan blade does not turn freely, bench test it for function and use a multimeter to test the motor windings for continuity. If the windings do not have continuity, (very odd) replace the evaporator fan motor.
Cause 3
Damper Control Assembly The air damper control opens and closes to let the proper amount of cold air into the refrigerator compartment. If the damper does not open properly, it won't let enough cold air into the refrigerator. Check the damper control to determine if it is broken or stuck closed or that an inadvertent bump has shut it off to the refrigerator compartment

Amana fridge model number Arb1914cw is not cooling. Freezer is working fine

Bottom freezer fridges are especially susceptible to
  1. Dust build up on the condenser coil that impedes heat transfer to the outside from inside the box
    • Remove the (bottom) footplate by grasping outside edges and pulling/levering out and popping it free.
    • Use vac crevice attachment and coil brush to clean away all dust from the coil and foot plate.
    • Replace plate and allow 24 hours for inside temp to stabilize.
    • Adjust top temp setting if needed to maintain safe temp level.
    • Repeat semianually or annually as scheduled maintenance--depending on the dustiness is fridge's location.
  2. Airflow blockage through the crispers and meat keepers.
    • Remove crispers and meat keeper as well as glass cover shelf.
    • Find cooling passages between crispers and at midline of meat keeper.
    • Remove any buildup of air blocking debris.
    • Wipe up fridge box floor beneath meat keeper.
    • Reinstall glass shelf, meat keeper, and crispers.
    • Check perodically for poor temperature/moisture keeping in crispers and for water pooling on fridge box floor as signs of blocked air flow through criispers and meat keepers.

My Maytag MFF2558VEM Bottom Freezer French Door Refrigerator doesn't keep cool

What you should be looking for is a blocked air flow. The fan in the freezer will push air up to the fridge and cool it off. Look for a dead fan motor in the freezer or a blocked air vent Good luck

Hi,
Check the temperature setting Assure that there is enough room for air flow in the freezer or freezer Check for air flow restrictions in vents Test the temperature control Clean the condensor coils Check the door seals Test the door switch Test defrost heater Test defrost timer Test evaporator fan Check for a clogged drain tube Check for refrigerant leak Freezer is too cold
Check the temperature setting Test the temperature control Freezer is noisy
Hissing and popping is normal, it is the defrost heater. Check that the freezer is level Check the drain pan Check the condensor fan Check the evaporator fan Inspect the compressor mounts Freezer runs continuously
Defrost the freezer Clean the condensor coils Check the door seals Freezer starts and stops frequently
Clean the condensor coils Check the outlet voltage Test the condensor fan Test the compressor relay Test the overload protector Test the compressor motor Freezer does not defrost automatically
Test the defrost timer Test the defrost heater Test the defrost thermostat Freezer has an unpleasant odor
Remove spoiled food Clean freezer interior with a solution of h Clean freezer interior with a solution of hot water and baking soda Clean the door seals Remove breaker strips and check for wet insulation Water on floor outside of freezer
Check the drain pan If you have an ice-maker, check the water supply hose going into and coming out of the water inlet valve Water inside the freezer

This is known as the CZT or Climate Zone Technology fan and if you direct wire it and it does not run, replace.
This is the cold zone fan which supplies cold air to the meat and crisper drawers.

My refrigerator is not working, but my freezer is

Usually there is a air flow problem from it not defrosting(all the evaporator coils are frosted up with moisture preventing air flow-defrost problem ) or the fan motor is not turning in the back of the freezer section above the evaporator....
All of the cooling in the top or refrigerator section is done by air flow circulating across the coils in the freezer to get temps down to 38 degrees or so. You have to listen for the fan running in the freezer section, feel for air at the top back of the refrigerator(the damper control) Sometimes a bi-metal thermostat in the defrost circuit is also used in series with the evaporator fan motor, if it is open the fan will not run........(this I have seen) Also check the vents for the return air to the freezer(behind the crispers are not covered accidentally) Hope this helps........

Maytag freezer don't freeze food or make ice

There could be several things causing the frig to be cold but not cold enough. First check thermostat control and air control. Both should be set in the middle setting for normal operation.Next check to see if evaporater fan is running in freezer. It should be running whenever compressor runs and circulates cold air inside frig as well as freezer. Next check if condensor fan motor is running. It blows air over condensor coils to remove heat. Last ,check condensor itself for dirty coils. If they are matted up with hair dust, etc. it will cause poor cooling. you can give thorough cleaning with vacuum cleaner. Hope this helps

  2. Check that the refrigerator is level
  3. Check the drain pan
  4. Check the condensor fan
  5. Check the evaporator fan
  6. Inspect the compressor mounts
As for th freezer's problem checkout the,
  1. Check the temperature setting
  2. Assure that there is enough room for air flow in the freezer or freezer
  3. Check for air flow restrictions in vents
  4. Test the temperature control
  5. Clean the condensor coils
  6. Check the door seals
  7. Test the door switch
  8. Test defrost heater
  9. Test defrost timer
  10. Test evaporator fan
  11. Check for a clogged drain tube
  12. Check for refrigerant leak.
Thank you. Plz rate the solution..

GE model TFX22R ice maker problem

First clean out the condensor coils. If you have pets it should be done at least 3 times a year. The other possible problem is if the gasket in either the fridge or freezer is worn out or has a gap it will not cool properly. Check that the fan underneath the unit by the condensor coils is running when the compressor is . Some smaller refrigerators have only condensor coils on the back and no fan. These units should have room for air flow on top and sides not built in flush with cabinets. Buy a thermometer for both the fridge and freezer compartments. You run the risk of food poisoning if the fridge temp can not be kept below 40 degrees. Freezer temp should be able to keep at least 0 - 5 degrees. (Ice cream is a very good indication of proper temp. It is the first thing that melts. Ice maker is a close 2nd.)

If these things don't work call for repair. Don't risk losing all your food!
