Question about Palm Treo 650 Handheld

Memory data error

Hello Beni:

I'm a real estate professional in New Jersey accessing MLS data on a daily basis from one of the many MLS systems in the country. The data that is being sent to me from the MLS server (by connecting my Treo 650 to my PC via a UBS connection) fails to update totally. The error notification stated on the screen of the 650 indicates 'not enough available memory.' I've got 7.8M of 23M available and I'm being told that's way more than enough to gain the data fully. The tech person from the MLS tells me he believes there's an 650 update available which corrects the phone from believing there isn't sufficient memory available. I've searched the Treo sites thoroughly and can find no such update available. Can you offer me any advice. Thanks very much, of course. Jim

I downloaded Destaller Lite (free) and the problem is seemingly repaired! Unbelievable -- thank you.

Try a soft reset the next time you get the error.

If that fails, try getting a freeware called "Destaller". Programs like yours may leave a "footprint" of old data (sort of like Web cookies) that may be cluttering your unit. This small program allows deletion of these files if that's the problem here.

I get a similar problem with TomTom Navigator 6. Soft reset usually fixes it.

How do I clear all personal data, before returning the phone?

Many Mobile Telephones give an option to record personal numbers etc. into the phone memory or onto the SIM card. The SIM card often has more memory and this should be the chosen option. If you remove your SIM you should be able to access the telephone memory and see what is in it. Delete all the personal information, there should not be much on it. If you find that all your personal data is saved to the telephone, you should be able to save the information to the SIM, then remove the SIM and delete the data on the phone. If you are keeping the same number and same SIM, then your personal data will be available on your new phone. If you are changing your service provider and getting a new phone, by putting your old SIM into the new phone you can transfer the SIM data to the new phone and then onto the new SIM. After you should destroy the old SIM by cutting it up through the Electronic Chip. If you have to send it back send it in pieces.
The more modern android type phone will have an option to connect with a PC to recover your data. Alternatively, you might be able to email the data to yourself. After which you will need to either delete all personal stuff if you don't have a memory card in the phone. If you have a memory card just remove it and install it into your new phone, all your data should be there.

I was given a blackberry pearl 8100 and am trying to import my pictures from my device. i was able to from my media card, but not from the device. how can i get these pics off my phone and onto my...

Hi,
Most of the mobiles will prompt the user to select the mode of connection when connected to computer such as "Mass storage mode/data transfer mode" and "PC suite/modem mode". If you select the "Mass storage mode/data transfer mode", then only your mobile phone's memory card is connected to your system just like pen drive. so only the pictures present in momory card can be accessed. For transfering pictures from phone memory, try the following methods,
1. Go to your file manager in mobile phone, move the pictures from your phone memory to memory card.
2. Install proper PC suite for your mobile, connect to system in phone mode/modem mode/pc suite mode. Then using the PC suite file manager in your system, oyu can access files stored on to phone memory as well as memory card.
3. Connect a bluetooth dongle to your system, establish a bluetooth connection to your mobile. Threw bluetooth file manager from your system, you can browse the phone memory of your phone.
I hope any of the above tips may solve your problem.

Palm issue

Sounds like you have a memory sucking program running in the background. If you're using a launcher you may want to get rid of it. If your not sure which program on your PDA is hogging the processor you may just want to get rid of any programs that you don't use on a daily basis.
Also if you are running a program off of an SD card then it is going to run slower than if you put it on the actual PDA. Then there is the possibility that you put enough data on your program to slow the start up time.

Save data

You should remember to back-up your system and save your work on a regular basis. Should your system lock-up, you will need to hard (full) reset and restore your data from the backup.
