Question about Fuji FinePix A330 Digital Camera

Fuji FinePix A330

Thank you for your idea about how to get the camera to work. Just like the other person, my camera works fine until I push the button to take the picture then it turns itself off. You mentioned resetting the factory settings. I went to the menu and then 'set up" then "reset". but it didn't work...is there something else I need to do or try? Thank you for your time.

I have the same problem with this camera and it's not the batteries, I know because I have tried numersous digital rechargable's and also just regular duracell AA's.

Had this exact problem for months... thought it was bad batteries, or bad buttons. Finally I took apart the camera and found out that the circuit board that has the button/switches mounted on it, shorts out when pressure is applied (pressing the buttons). The back of the circuit board makes contact with the chassis and shorts out, thus turning off the camera completely. My fix was to insert a small spacer (I used a small piece of plastic roughly 1/16 of an inch) in between the circuit board and the chassis preventing the contact between the two when you press the buttons.

Is the firmware for fuji finepix A607 the same

Heres the support site for that camera - theres no firmware listed http://www.fujifilm.co.uk/consumer/digital/digital-cameras/legacy-cameras/finepix-a607-zoom/support I would not use the A330 firmware although considered identical - Its NOT it is identical to the A330, except for the fact that it uses a Super CCD sensor instead of the standard / conventional sensor in the A330...
why do you want to update the firmware ?

Help with my my fuji finepix a330

If your new card has the letter "H" or "M" on it, your A330 isn't compatible with it unless a "firmware" upgrade is performed on the camera. Here's a link to the process, which you can do by following the steps.

Driver for A330 with Window Vista

Get a card reader and use it rather than plugging the camera into the computer. Makes it much faster and earier.

What type of xD card did you buy?  It needs to be a plain xD card with no letters before the file size or a type "M" card.  For type "M" you will need to upgrade the camera's firmware.
http://www.fujifilm.com/products/digital/download/a330/fupd.html

This type of camera can't use type "H" cards, so cards like "H512mb" aren't going to work.
To initialize a card choose Menu. Arrow over to "Set", then arrow up to choose "Set-up". On screen "1" of the Set-up, arrow down to choose "Format".
This will ask you to erase all the images from the card, and format it.
Just today I upgraded my camera firmware to accept a type "M" card, initialized the type "M" card after that - and now it's working fine!

Memory card problems...Fuji FinePix A330

Same thing happened to me.  I ran across a website that allowed me to download a free recovery program that looks at memory cards.  Thankfully this free program allowed me to recover all 232 pictures I had saved from a trip to Spain.

Here is the link I used.

Good luck!

512 MB card problem

If the new 512mb xD card has a prefix of "H" or "M" before the 512, it is not compatable with your A330 unless a firmware upgrade is performed on the camera. You can download all the details here http://www.fujifilm.ca/x3720.xml

A330 takes pic but wont store in memory

Dirty internal contacts - to major failure if this is a card with side contacts ,wrap a piece of paper around the card and gently push it home and out and in several timse in an attempt to polish the contacts. If that fails then the camera is dead- a repair shop price will be well on the way to the price of a new camera and a more upto date one too.
