Laptop displays blank screen - cannot see bios on bootup - power seems ok. checked ram - replaced each rack separately, still no joy.

This is a common problem with the dv2000, dv6000, & dv9000 models. It's because your video chip has partially come out of it's socket in the motherboard. This is not an easy fix unless you really know what you're doing, but if you did then you probably would already know about this problem and how to fix it. There are places that can fix the problem you have. The problem is finding the right place - one that REALLY knows their stuff. You could get your motherboard replaced with a new one that you purchase on ebay or have HP replace. Either way it's likely to cost you between $250 - $350 for the replacement of the motherboard. I would suggest selling your computer for parts to a repair shop. You should be able to get about $100 for it as-is. Take that money, plus the $250 - $350 you would have had to pay for repair and buy a new laptop. MADHATTER COMPUTERS

Been told the mother board needs replaceing on hp pavilon note book laptop s/n cnf6420xq7 p/n rp958ea#ABU. who can supply this item and at what cost. with thanks GEOFF

Hello, i hope to help you. If you have your laptop, first thing you need the part # of the motherboard itself. To find the motherboard part number, you will need to remove the ram modules from the bottom of the laptop. The is a small cover to be removed in order to remove the ram. remove the small cover and then carefully remove the ram via the retaining clips on the sides of the memory. Pull these clips to the sides adn the ram should almost pop out. Now provided the sticker hasnt been removed or fallen off, you should see a little white sticker on the motherboard with a 6 digit number, a dash and 3 more numbers. That is your motherboard part number. Usually looks like 433280-001. Now you only need the first set of number before the dash, now click on the link I have provided for ebay. Enter that number within the search box, and you should find several motherboard for your model. Prices vary from 95-175 bucks. Check out the sellers feedback and warranty/return policy. order your new board and when it arrives find a Laptop repair shop to do the work.

My shop charges 80 dollars in labor to replace a motherboard in a laptop. Plus any shipping charges we incure. If you would like for my store to do the work for you please contact us through our website at . We are fully certified, members of the BBB. We also have a really good feedback on ebay as (exx-tech) where we buy and sell a lot of laptop parts. We can work out something like I can bill you through an Ebay listing for the part and the work if needed, that way your protected via ebay/paypal.

Hope this helps, David

Notebook sony vgn-570g needs new motherboard according to diagnostics at a repair shop. ebay has a member service which repairs existing motherboard if possible. What is your opinion?

Some motherboards are repairable depending on whats gone wrong with them, if you can get a description of what has gone wrong you can email ebay to see if they can fix it for you before you pay any money

kind regards and please don't forget to rate us

Replacing hp dv4000 motherboard

Hi I suggest you go to the HP site at the link below and select your particular version and then seek out the manual for it.
But system boards are very expensive and tricky to replace. if you are not experienced in laptop repairs then forget it. It's really not worth the effort of replacing the system board unless you can get a good used one.
Just buy another laptop and get your data transferred. Go for a used Dell D610. Excellent machines, about 4 years old now but I sell loads and NEVER had a problem. Good build quality, unlike most of todays laptops

HP Laptop Compaq NX9500. Problems with motherboard. Found there is classaction suit but this serial number is just outside those that are covered. HP no longer makes replacement parts and refuses to...

Check with any local computer repair shops, they may have another compaq nx9500 laying around that they could swap the motherboards with. Some may even offer to do a free diagnostic.

I also found this ebay auction which offers motherboard repair (don't worry, it's not mine):

If all else fails, you can sell the parts off piecemeal (memory, hard drive, cd/dvd drive, etc.) on ebay and try to get more than $200.

D600 latitude motherboard

I recommend Ebay. You can get a good used motherboard for around $100, just make sure that the motherboard is guaranteed to work, so your protected if it doesn't. I've gotten many used boards off Ebay, and had no problems. Used or refurbished is just fine, there's really no sense in paying the $400 for a new one. If the $150 refurbished has at least one year warranty or better, that would be the route to go. Here's a link to Ebay's listing for the D600 motherboards. If you need assistance in changing out the board let me know.
