What is wrong? Did you forget your password? Or the login name? or did you have a crash? Did you reinstall something? Or did a "funny" guy just change your password and forgot to tell you?

Don't panic, Apple should be able to help you if you have an apple account, and you have that password.

How to unlock old accounts on a mac book

  • Restart the Mac holding down the Command+S keys, this will take you into Single User Mode and the Terminal interface
  • In Terminal, mount the root drive as writeable with the command:
mount -uw /
  • Then:
rm /var/db/.applesetupdone
  • Finally, enter:
(spaces are important in Terminal commands, so type them exactly as shown.)

  • On reboot, you should see the "Welcome Wizard" startup screen that Macs display when brand new.
  • Follow the welcome wizard and create an account name different from the account whose password you want to recover. This account can be temporary
  • Boot OS X with this newly-created account, which will have administrative access
  • Navigate to "System Preferences" (under Apple menu)
  • Click on "Accounts"
  • Click on the Lock icon in the lower left corner of the "Accounts" preference window and enter your new credentials
  • On the left side user panel, select the old user account that used the forgotten password
  • Click on the "Reset Password" button
  • Enter a new password for the old account. Write it down so you don't forget it again!
  • Reboot
  • You can now login to the old user account using the newly reset password.
  • Delete the temporary user account, and you're back in business.

I forgot my username on my mac login, and I cant login? please helf me out

If you have a Mac OSX install disk you can actually reset the password without losing all of your info on the computer. This should also help you with your username: With your MacBook on, insert the disk. When the popup comes to the screen asking if you want to install just CLOSE out of that box. Now turn your laptop off. Next, power it back on & as soon as you hear the 'chime' **HOLD DOWN THE OPTION BUTTON** or it won't work. It will say 'Preparing Installation' so you'll have to wait for a bit. **IMPORTANT** when that's finished, you'll see a Welcome window. Look at the VERY TOP of your screen and click on UTILITIES. In the drop down menu click on RESET PASSWORD. It will give you the option to click on your MacBook Hard Drive and other options. Only click on the MACBOOK HARD DRIVE (or Macintosh HD). below that it will allow you to choose the user that you want to change the password for (this should include the username). Type in any password you like twice then a password hint then click save. This will allow you to get into the profile. hope this helps. Don't forget to vote if it did!
