IC w32a has been apart about 3 times to re solder the power plug ,this time I put it back together and the the 2m band wont transmit but for a second then off.Nearby radio will pick up the brief transmission.Scaning up I found it starts to transmit solid at 375.000. 440 seems to work fine.

Instrument cluster black

If you have the 3-Panel Digital Cluster, with the Fuel on the Left.., Speed in Center.., and Odometer on the Right.., and the Cluster is going Wacky.., works one minute then craps out the next.., take the dash apart and remove the Digital Cluster. Take your time when unplugging the harness behind the cluster, use a mirror if you have to.., to unplug it correctly.

The problem with this Digital Display is the Solder Connections.., at the 14-Pin IC Chip.., which is directly behind the Odometer Display on the main Circuit Board. When you get the Cluster removed.., again.., take your time.., and take the cluster apart.., so you get the main circuit board out. The 14-Pin Integrated Circuit (IC) Chip is marked with an IC2 on the main board.., which as mentioned is behind the Odometer Display. The IC Chip is usually Black in Color.., and is '@' 1/4" x 3/4" You will need a Soldering Iron.., @ a 30 watt with a pointed tip.., don't use a Soldering 'Gun'., too hard to use and too hot.., you don't want to cause yourself more problems by messing up the board circuit tracks by overheating them.., so it's best to use a smaller iron. It is a good idea to have some fine strand solder on hand.., but you should not need it.., all you want to do.., is to 'Re-Tin'.., or 'briefly' melt the Solder at all 14-pins of the IC Chip.., on the back side of the board.., to Re-Flow or Re-Solder the Connections of that 14-Pin IC Chip to the Circuit Board. That's all it is..!!!

I just repaired my 1991 Olds Cutlass Supreme 3.1.., 3-Panel Digital Instrument Cluster in this manner.., and it has been "Perfect" for a month now..!!

Take your time.., get it all back together.., and my bet is that it will be good to go for many more years to come..!!

Good Luck.

Display says OFF

You are on a portion of the 2 meter band that the radio does not allow you to transmit on. You need to get within the legal band portion and transmit there. The IC-V8000 only transmits between 144.000mHz and 148.000mHz. You likely have the radio outside of that range.

The sound on my toshiba theater view wont work i checked both the speakers and they are fine. Is this a simple fix?

hi,
If speakers are ok then the sound output ic of your tv is faulty. If you have basic knowledge in electronics then you can replace the ic. You can find the ic by following the wires from the speakers. It will end near the sound out put ic. The ic will be fitted on an aluminum heat sink. Note that number of that ic and get a new one from the nearest electronic spare part shop. For replacing the ic you need some tools like screwdriver de-soldering pump soldering iron, solder etc. All these thing will get from the spare part shop, if you don't have the same.Be sure to open the tv only after half an hour after dismantling the power because electrolytic capacitors inside it will store the power for some time.

How to solve

1.Please find this IC on motherboard EPU asp0800 near the CPU Socket

2.Press the IC with finger,at the same time press the power buttom

(If CPU fan is running on short time please do step 3 )
3.Power on your soldering iron and contact each side of this IC about 3 seconds( soldering iron to contact IC lead left to right or right to left)
4.Review each side of IC and check any short between IC lead5.After step 4 done, power on pc again, if PC booting congratulation

6.Final check: put finger on ic top side surface (don't touch the IC lead)feel the temperature if too hot that's mean short between IC

Tv turned itself off. turn power back on, picture

Your TV is experiencing a convergence issue as indicated by the 3 blinks. The only way to fix this is replacing the convergence ICs. It is not a hard task to replace these ICs. You just need to know how to solder and work on printed circuit boards.

The convergence ICs are mounted on a large heat sink and are marked with codes starting with the letters STK and there are two of them. You need to replace both.

Look for the heat sink with two ICs mounted on it and check the markings.

Once found, cut the IC legs with a small side cutter and unscrew it from the heat sink. Remove the legs left soldered on the board.

Take note of the IC markings for ordering the right part and how it was installed. Don't forget to buy along with the IC a thermal compound.

Check the pico fuses on the same board. Most likely you will find a blown one. These fuses look very much like a resistor, not like the usual transparent fuse, and usually yellow.

Once you have the replacement ICs, put it on the board in the same way as it was installed before. Make sure the screw holes are aligned before soldering the legs into the board.

Put a reasonable amount of thermal grease/compound between the ICs and the heat sink and fix them with the screws.

Double check the board for any splash of solders that might cause a short circuit and damage the board.

Your problem is the amplifier IC inside the unit. It is attached to the heat sink and soldered onto the main circuit board. If you have a soldering iron, solder, and solder wick (to remove solder from bad IC) you could do this repair pretty easy. You would need to disassemble the unit and remove the solder from the IC, then remove the IC from the heat sink and attach the new IC to the heat and put it back into the board and then solder all the pins of the new IC back onto the main board. After that, just put the unit back together just the way you took it apart. Just pay attention to where all the screws went and make sure you get them all back in the right places.

If you do not have the soldering equipment and are not comfortable with your soldering skills it would be better left to a service center to do this. Just about any service center would be able to do this repair for around $100. That should include the part and the labor. The price will depend on the service centers rates, but it is an easy repair that would require less than 1 hour of actual labor. Most shops will charge a minimum of 1 hour labor even if it only takes 15 minutes.

I have been repairing car audio equipment for over 18 years and can assure you that this is the problem you have, it is the typical symptoms for a bad amp IC.

Feel free to ask any other questions by just posting back on this thread.
