First make sure that computer is getting power, check that AC adapter is connected and led light is on.
Second, remove the battery from laptop and all the cables. Press power button down for 10s. But the battery back on, connect AC adapter and try to start. If still nothing, possible HW issue.

3 main lights turn on with AC or DC power then cut off and no boot.

Hi,

Here is one of the simple steps to fix your issue.

Remove the battery and the ac adapter on the computer, then try to push the power button for about 10-15 secs. After doing so, try to connect the ac adapter alone, then turn the computer on. Check if still the same scenario. If still does, try doing the same steps again but instead of pushing the power button, Press and hold FN+Power button, this will allow the computer boot up to the built in diagnostics of the computer, run the diagnostics. If still the same, trry different ac adapter, if it works replace the ac adapter if still the same after replacing the ac adapter, contact Dell as it might be a Motherboard issue.

I hope this can help you.

Thank you for choosing fixya

I have a Sony Vaio laptop, model PCG-384L. It will not power up. My wife indicated that she push some button that lock the power. Can seem to find the button that controls or locks the power button. ...

Typically that flashing light means low battery. Which makes sense, as you probably have an issue with the AC Adapter that you plug into the computer to charge it, or the DC Jack that this adapter plugs into on the laptop. Either of these things will cause your computer to not charge the battery, and if there isn't enough power it won't turn on.

Please try the following troubleshooting steps:

3 Press and hold down the power button for 30 seconds.
4 Connect the charger (don't connect the battery yet) and try to start by pressing the power button.

Let me know if everything remain same.

No power. All power cords checked and tight. With

Check power adapter’s DC plug that connects into the laptop power socket with a multi-meter, the voltage should be slightly higher than the voltage that is printed on the label on the bottom of the adapter. If the voltage is zero or way below the voltage that is printed on the label then the power adapter is faulty and needs to be replaced.
If the adapter is OK then connect it to the laptop and power it up, then look at the power/battery charging LED light and wriggle the power plug in the laptop's power socket. If the power/battery LED light flashes and in a certain position this LED light stays firm, then the power socket is either faulty or it has a dry solder joint where it is connected to the motherboard.
This can be repaired but it requires the laptop to be completely dismantled to get at this power socket and repair. If you cannot DIY then I suggest you get a quote first.

Lights come on but no fans or powerup

Hello,

Please follow the steps below.

1. Please removed the battery and unplugged the power supply.
2. Held down the power button for 45 seconds.
3. After 45 seconds reinstalled the battery and the power supply and pushed the power button and if it works then you don't need to replace your motherboard.
4. Else try it couple of times or up to five times before it worked if worst comes to worst.

Thanks

Eee PC does not turn on!!

there could be a variety of problems....first off try a simple power cycle..remove the battery and keep poewr adapter in...then push power button down for 1 minute...then push the power button normally and might correct problem....if not check the brick the power adapter box for lights or warmth...if not warm it could be bad power adapter....if it has warmth and lights then it could be the battery...if you have a warranty on hte computer now would be a good time to call the warranty companie...but try those steps first...they are simple troubleshooting steps...

Lack of Power

1) Battery can be derect.
2) Power adapter can be defect.
3) Power jack can be defedt.
In about 50% of such cases it is the power jack.
Bring it to a repair shop. They can check very easily the battery and the adapter to find out the problem.
