Question about Apple Elgato EyeTV (T5301LL/A) Video Capture

Open Question

I have just connected the Elgato video capture for the first time after buying it a year ago and never being able to get it to work. I used the standard 3 red, yellow and white av leads going from my video to the elgato points. When I launch it there it comes up with "no signal" , however there is sound and when i hit the record button and then stop it I have full picture and sound (i.e. it has recorded) it is just not in colour. Please help me with this problem as I have searched the net and have come up with nothing

SOURCE: Elgato EyeTV (T5301LL/A) Video Capture: I have an old camcorder - with only a yellow video...

If you have just one Audio Out RCA jack then the camcorder only recorded in MONO, so all you would need to do is either plug the wire coming from your single Audio Out jack into the left or white input jack of your Capture Device which may have an option in the software program to set it to recieve audio in MONO, or you can buy a RCA Jack Splitter that goes from a single Female RCA jack on one end and 2 Male RCA Jacks on the other end. Then you take the end of the Splitter with 2 plugs and plug one of them into the White Jack and the other into the Red Jack on your Capture Device, and the other end with just one plug should plug into the cord coming from the Black Jack on your Camcorder.

1) Make sure your game console is set to output audio via the cables you are using.

Solution: The PlayStation 3 (PS3), Xbox 360, and other game consoles have various options for audio output. Make sure you have selected the right audio output option for Elgato Game Capture HD to use.

When using the PS3 with Elgato Game Capture HD, make sure you set the Audio Output settings to Audio Input Connector / SCART / AV MULTI

You can refer to this article for more details:

Video capturing problem

I first got the Elgato Video Capture device for my Mac, I was hard-pressed to find any info on the initial problem I was having of trying to see what I was recording while playing my NES. All of the posts on forums were from years ago, and none of them helped me out at all.
Hopefully I can help out someone who has the same problem, and maybe make their life a little easier while trying to capture their NES footage.

The tv is not the problem it's the elgato, during the setup it changed settings on the PS3. The problem can be fixed by changing display settings on the elgato software.

Try transferring the videos to your computer. Connect the camcorder to your computer and open windows movie maker. Then use the capture from camera to capture it from the camcorder. Once its done you can save the captured video to your computer and burn them to a DVD.

Hope this helps,
Sai.
