If you receive the message "Error loading operating system" and before Windows was running normally, you can try to reinstall your OS with the repair option (if you can't access your hard drive then it's hdd failure). If your message appears before boot media is accessed, I would recommend you to reset BIOS settings by following the steps below:when i start computer first - 44a6f3c.jpg

How to isolate issues between hardware and software


<p>It has been one of the dilemma of computer users is to identify what is really causing the failure in their computer. Often they think that they bought a defective product since they are getting these kind of errors in the computer. Having an error on your machine does not mean that the machine is defective or needs parts replacement. for all we know it might just need some simple troubleshooting steps to fix the issue. Here is a tip where you would be able to know if you need to bring your computer to a service shop for parts replacement or you can try to fix it at home by doing some troubleshooting steps that would help fix software failure in the computer system.<br /> <br /> On a Windows based operating system, you should always know when the issue happens. It will help much to observe your computer on how it boots up and what it does before you get to the desktop screen. Take a note on where and when exactly the error occurs.<br /> <br /><b> Power Failure:</b><br /> <br /> This is an issue where there are no lights on the power button of your computer, whether it is a portable system or a desktop computer. Obviously this is a hardware failure. surprisingly, discharging the flea power of your computer sometimes resolves these kinds of issues. Otherwise, you will definitely need to have a local technician look at your system for parts replacement.<br /> <br /><b> Note:</b> flea power is the charged power of our computer system. A computer system is made up of electronic components such as capacitors which hold electronic charges. To be able to discharge it, you should disconnect all power source from your computer and hold the power button for at least 5 seconds.<br /> <br /> <br /><b> POST Failure:</b><br /> <br /> POST is an abbreviation for Power On Self Test. as the name implies, it is the test that a system goes through to test the basic hardware components needed for a computer to boot. If there is a POST failure, the system would give you a black screen with lights on the front panel. If you encounter such issue, you will need hardware technical support to guide you isolate further on what could be causing the failure.<br /> <br /><b> Boot Failure:</b><br /> <br /> Boot failure is when the computer is able to complete post. You will be able to know this if you hear a single beep on your computer. Isolating a boot failure from a post failure simply requires you to boot to the System Setup/configuration Screen (BIOS). If you are able to get to the BIOS, that means all the POST hardware component are good to go. However, booting to the BIOS differs per system. You just need to do trial and error on the following keys to tap as you turn your computer on.<br /> <br /> Del<br /> F1<br /> F2<br /> F10<br /> F9<br /> ESC<br /> <br /> To isolate an issue whether it is a software or a hardware issue, you just need to boot from the BIOS. If you are able to boot from the BIOS, chances are it is not a hardware failure and needs servicing.<br /> <br /> <p><img src="vincent_von_0.jpg" /><br /> <p><br /> If booting to the BIOS works, to further isolate the issue whether it is the advanced software, you need to boot to Safe mode. Safe mode is a troubleshooting state where only the basic applications and drivers are active. If you are having errors or boot failure, try to boot to Safe Mode. If you do not encounter the failure in Safe Mode, that means that there are advanced software being loaded in your operating system that fails. It is just a matter of knowing what that software is.<br /> <br /><b> Booting to Safe Mode:</b><br /> <br /> 1. turn computer on and tap on F8 before Windows starts.<br /> 2. You will be getting the Advanced Boot options. Use the arrow keys to get to the option for Safe Mode.<br /> <br /> <p><img src="vincent_von_0.png" /><br /> <p><br /> <p><br /><b> Safe Mode Definitions:</b><br /> <br /> Safe Mode: Just basic software are being loaded. Network drivers are not included which means no internet connection<br /> <br /> Safe Mode with Networking: Basic software and Network drivers are being loaded.<br /> <br /> note: for Vista or Windows 7, it includes wireless network drivers. This means that you can still connect to the internet with a wireless connection. Inspiron 531s will not boot up, keeps beeping, saying it is in power save mode. How do I fix the problem


System Beep Codes The Inspiron™ 531 / 531s system can emit a series of beeps during start-up if the display cannot show errors or problems. These series of beeps, called beep codes, identify various problems. One possible beep code consists of repetitive three short beeps. This beep code indicates the computer encountered a possible system board failure.
The series of beeps has a 3-second delay before it repeats. The series and delays continually loop until you press the power button.
Code Description Suggested Remedy 1 BIOS ROM checksum in progress or failure System board failure; covers BIOS corruption or ROM error 2 No memory modules detected
  1. If you have two or more memory modules installed, remove the modules, reinstall one module, and then restart the computer. If the computer starts normally, reinstall an additional module. Continue until you have identified a faulty module or reinstalled all modules without error.

To resolve the issue, Please perform the following steps:

Step 1: BIOS Reset

To reset the BIOS defaults, follow these steps:

1. Restart the computer and press F2 (F10 in some Notebooks) as soon as the HP logo appears.
2. Go to Exit menu and select Load BIOS defaults or press F9.
3. Go to Exit menu and select Save changes and Exit or press F10.

This will reset the BIOS defaults. Now, when the Notebook restarts, press F8 repeatedly until the start up menu appears. Select the Safe Mode and press Enter Key to enter in Safe Mode and then perform the step 2.

Step 2 : Disable the "Automatically Restart" under System Failure:

1. Click Start, right-click the My Computer icon, then Properties.
2. Click the Advanced tab, then Settings in the Startup & Recovery section.
3. Remove the check mark next to Automatically Restart under System Failure.
4. Click OK to close the Startup and Recovery window, then click OK to close the System Properties window.
5. Restart the computer.

Step3: Reinstall Power management

To reinstall Power Management in Windows XP, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, select Control Panel, and then choose Performance and Maintenance.
2. Click the System icon to open the System properties window.
3. Select the Hardware tab and click Device Manager.
4. Click the plus (+) sign next to System Devices.
5. Right-click the ACPI Fixed Features button and select Uninstall.
6. Restart the system.

On restarting the system, Windows will automatically detect and install Power Management on the computer.

PXE-E61 media failure when i start up my computer


The PXE-E61 failure is a failure to boot to the network card, this generally indicates a problem with the hard disk drive.
  1. Boot to the BIOS and reset the defaults
  2. Reseat the hard drive
  3. Boot to Windows CD and run CHKDSK /R on HDD
If the system will not boot to the HDD, but it is seen in BIOS, then the HDD may have an OS issue, if not detected in BIOS HDD likely has failed.

I have a Lenovo A61 Thinkcentre that is about one year old. I am now hearing a fairly loud noise that comes and goes. When the system starts, the noise appears and lasts 10 - 20 minutes, then disappears....


Ok it still sounds like an fan. look for fans, one in power supply, one on cpu, one in case(frount or back), one on video card. before you start from cold unplug the fans that you can. and stop the one in power supply. then if there is no nosie you have to start pluging them back in till you hear the noise. **NOTE!!** don't run it long without fans!!( 40 secs) is long enough..

PXE-E61 Media test Failure


hy i have your solution.its simple. the problem is remote network data entry that start in the bios systems, produce by a virus call downloader.trojan or bootable Tj.exe, normally the bios has to read it and it gives the error " media test faliurecheck cables",ir you dont repaired quickly your laptop or desktop eventually will not boot the windows att all, this have to be kill before that happens, First of all clean your pc with Trojan Remover and then do just a simple task restart your desktop or laptop and do not let it initiate windows just press F2 at the bios and go to the Bios program and then go to the tab name Bios and press F9 that means "default bios systems" and everything will change in your bios and when your desktop or pc restart it will never show that message again and your bios will initiate with no problems and the virus that put that into your pc will no longer control your bios system.
