Question about Samsung Washing Machines

1 Answer

I have a Samsung SW80USP top load washing machine. The tub brake is gone and I believe i have to replace the entire gear box, which is alright cuz I have already purchased one. Now I tried to un-do the 35mm tub nut but it hasn't moved a bit. It is way too tight or I am doing something wrong. I checked the thread on the new part and it looks like it goes loose anti-clockwise. The nut itself says open on the sams direction so I guess I am doing it right. Can someone please give me any tip or advice on how to get that bugger loose?

I have tried absolutely everything to loosen the nut, I have used a compressed air impact gun, a vise-grip spanner with a hammer, an extension wrench and nothing works. On the last attempt with a lot of effort I got the tub to move anti-clockwise which is something it doesnt do naturally but the nut hasnt moved a bit. I tried a more aggressive approach and hammered with a screw driver the nut. I made a groove on it and yet nothing has happened. I have run out of ideas. Any suggestions?

One idea could be to drill and destroy the nut and then replace, but I don't really want to get to this point. The idea of getting the tight waterproofing rubber mount out of the tub is already freaking me out as you said my problems are then just getting started and so far that nut has given me a lot of trouble.

`Actually, you are tackeling a tricky repair. Very unusual for a top loader to loose its breake. Before you strip the unit, check the break arm. A small cable is attached to it and when engaged to break, the arm should be free.(ie, cable loose to the touch). If not, check why not.
To change the gearbox, you will need to remove the pulsator first, then get a vicegrip type spanner to attach to the large nut in the centre. Carefully hit the spanner in an anticlock wise direction.to loosen the nut. Once off, your problems begin. The tub is stuck tightly onto the motor assembly. You have to forcefully pull and push sideways untill it comes free. Once free, take it out then lay machine down and unbolt the motor from underneath, (Unplug the single wiring harness.). Re install in the reverse manner. On occasion ive had to break the inner drum to enable me to remove the main motor assembly.

My samsung sw80usp does not stop filling with water, no matter where i set the water level

Hi.

Make sure that at start the machine is filling, and that the noise you hear is not because of a broken inlet or because drain pump started at the beginning of the cycle after detecting water in the tub.

If the water does not stop filling and ends up with overfilling, then the pressure switch is usually responsible. Before going for pressure switch have a look at the inlet valve. Make sure that it is not stuck open. The pressure switch is accessed from top of the machine. It looks like a round shaped part with contacts at one side and a long thin rubber hose connected. The hose goes inside the tub. Clean pressure hose first. If that does not work replace the switch. If switch replacement does not work and inlet valve is OK, then control module is defective.

Regards.

Worn outer tub

yea youl need to replace the tub alright, cgances are the bolts holding the inner tub to the transmission shaft have also broken off, which is why the inner tub spun off kilter and rubbed a hole in the outer tub,. the bolts (2 of them ) woulds have benn locking the inner basket to the tranny shaft, visible after removing the agitator
